Trying to find a hotel with a pool in that price range in South Beach in February will be next to impossible without bidding for it.

The closest ones I found was the Loews for $299 on quikbook.com and the Townhouse for $171 which does not have a pool, but does have a rooftop terrace which is supposed to be a very happening place.

Thats a very busy time in SoBe so I would stick with what you got. It sounds like a reasonable deal.

hotelkingdom has the Shelbourne for $205, so you could save $270 over the 3 nights. Oceanfront pool.

clark, the Shelbourne is beachfront, it has a pool, the price is right-- but it's probably a bit downmarket from what bbhanes is looking for. It's not one of the Happening Properties by any means.

It is going to be very difficult to get a good South Beach hotel with pool at that price, especially if they want anything that's part of the Scene (or what's left of it). I would call the National or the Sagamore and see if they have any specials going on. Is the pool non-negotiable?

yes i think we must have a pool. we're just not into swimming in the ocean. sorry to make it more difficult. so no go with shelbourne eh. what about roney palace - seems way to big but someone mentioned that. looks like maybe we are doing the best we can at the hotel for 295/night huh. figured maybe we could still get the pool but give up some of our hipness/restaurant to drop back to $200-$250 but perhaps no go...?? thanks everyone...

Skip the hipness and go for the Shelborne. Yes it has a pool and the whole place is newly renovated.

I am looking for a great resort to go for a 3/4 night girls weekend in either Miami beach, Fort Lauderdale, or Naples. Need great beach, great pool, and several restaurants on site (that are least somewhat reasonably priced). Also need pool side bar and food. Spa on site would be great. Shuttle or nearby shopping would be great for my friend. Would be willing to go up to $400/night for a fantastic place. Any suggestions?

Go to SouthBeachHotels.com for rates on The South Seas Hotel and The Avelon. Both can be had for under $200 during peak season (but not by too much).

The Avelon is in the middle of the deco district on Ocean Drive. The South Seas is in the Lincoln Road area, oceanfront, a couple of doors north of the Delano.

Either one, you can't go wrong.

I've stayed at the South Seas. It has a pool, cocktails by the pool and meets your $$ requirement. It is definitely NOT hip or happening. The hallways are slightly shabby, although my room was perfectly acceptable. Be sure to get an oceanview room.

Sparky, the Beach House in Bal Harbour will be over $200 in February and is way north of South Beach.

Cousin Eddie:
JZak wasn't asking for South Beach, so stick to flippin' the burgers.

The National hotel was less than $200 a night. Call and check on expedia for rates.

The Loews is great, excellent pool, I'd stay there no matter the price, great spa and bar as well.
