The last time that we went wine tasting in the Healdsburg area, we stayed in Sebastopol at the Avalon B&B - http://www.avalonluxuryinn.com/index.htmIt was a very special place, nestled in the redwoods - halfway between the wine tasting areas and the Pacific Ocean. The rooms are very luxurious, and the breakfast was absolutely fantastic.

Hmm, let me add my $2 cents. I lived in Sonoma for 15 years and also know Healdsburg quite well and LOVE both. I think choosing a place in Sonoma would probably be more fun, as there are SO MANY wonderful wineries and the plaza is charming. And you are also just a hop and skip away from Napa Valley (20 min drive to some nice Napa Valley wineries). Sonoma is also so close to Glenn Ellen and Kenwood (15 min) and those two places are my absolute favorites. Rustic and serene, with great food and wine..... I vote for SONOMA and I swear its not just b/c I am biased!!!
