Sonoma/Napa Romantic Picnic

Looking for a winery with beautiful scenery for a romantic picnic off the beaten path in late October. Any suggestions?

Head to Calistoga and the Chateau Montelene, which has a lake with a private pavillion that you can reserve for a picnic. Lovely!

In Sonoma, across from Dry Creek Winery, is a winery that used to be the site of Pezzi King. (Sorry, I don't remember the name of the new winery, but they are exactly across the street from Dry Creek) They have a beautiful picnic area, pretty tables under gazebos, kind of zen feeling, they are scattered down a slope, so you can have privacy....plus the grounds are beautifully landscaped, and you have views of the winding vineyards. Hope this helps.

Oh, you can bring in your own food, etc. but you must buy a bottle of wine from the winery to enjoy with your picnic. October will be a beautiful time of year.

Agree completely with Underhill: Chateau Montelena is quiet, beautiful, and romantic.

There are at least a half dozen more other hidden away places in Napa County.

In Sonoma County, try Raymond Burr which is out of the way, but you may need reservations.

Or Amida which has a terrific view.

Iron Horse is pretty much "out of the way".
