Sonoma Mission or Lodge at Sonoma

Which would you do? I've heard you can walk to the plaza from the Lodge, can you walk to restaurants from Sonoma Mission?

Lodge at Sonoma-the Sonoma Mission Inn is not in a great area and is not in walking distance to the square. IMHO
the SMI is showing wear and tear and nothing like it used to be. Welcome to Sonoma!

We were very disappointed with SMI. The whole area is a bit overpriced IMO, but SMI was such a mediocre place for the price, we were none too pleased.

Stayed at the Lodge at Sonoma. It's about a mile to the Town square.

We loved our cottage room and their room service. We were near the pool and jacuzzi. Staff was great.

SMI is under renovation and won't be re-opened until end of april 2004. we're booked at the lodge instead for our trip in early april.

Just back from a weekend at the SMI. You can't walk to downtown, but I thought the hotel was wonderful. They are remodeling the historical building but the rest is open. Spa was great. We were in a junior suite with fireplace. It was very nice.

We just returned from a weekend at The Lodge and it was fabulous. Relatives who live in Sonoma said the Mission is undergoing renovation and they've heard it can get rather noisy. They were impressed with The Lodge as well and said it would have been their first pick too. Have fun!
