In the past we have stayed at the Holiday Inn Express Hotel Virginia in Santa Barbara and really liked its location so close to State Street. We'll be going through the area in a few weeks and might consider the Franciscan which has gotten decent reviews. We don't need anything fancy but we do like to be able to walk to dinner from the hotel. Are there some good "family" restaurants within walking distance. We like "Joe's" on State but evidently it is about a 10 block walk. Thanks!

Well, it's only 19 days until I reach SB, after Christmas in Louisville with the family. I'm really looking forward to this trip. Wine Cask called last night to verify my reservation for New Year's Eve and they are having a 4-course price fixed menu for the evening. And they pair the wine with the food. I'm excited.
I will post a trip report when I arrive back. I confirmed my reservation as well with the Harbor View and everything is set. I am so excited about this trip. I do plan to go to the Hitching Post for dinner one night. And thanks for the name of a Mexican restaraunt. I was looking for that. My sense from looking at the map is that Highways 101 and Route 1 are the two main roads so it shouldn't be too hard to find anything and to get back easily. Sometimes, I'm directionally challenged.
Oh what are gas prices out there now? In VA, it's about $2.24 for regular unleaded. Just curious. Hope everyone has a Merry Christmas and a terrific holiday season.
