Dean,
I tried SNUBA in Maui for the first time in January. I thought it was nice. They give you about a 20 - 30 minute safety presentation first and then you go. It was cool to stay down below the surface (up to 50 feet) for about a half hour. It gave me the answer I wanted to the question, "would I really enjoy scuba diving?" The answer is "yes."
You do need to know, however, that there seemed to be a far less volume of fish at 50 feet as oppossed to while snorkeling at 5 feet. Just my opinion from my Maui experience.
Give it a try!

Only tried snuba once, twas in the Caribbean and I was disappointed.I have taking resort scuba dives a few times and it was great,I thought snuba would be just as good.Maybe I was doing something wrong but the problem that I had was with bouyancy, your air supply is floating on the surface on a raft and you are connected to the raft by your air line and a rope line which requires you to tow this raft around behind and above you.The resistance this causes tires you out quickly, the only way to avoid this is to stay in one area.....thats no fun !! If you can take a resort scuba dive I think that would be a better choice. Good luck and have fun.
