We recently moved to Central Florida from Costa Rica. Our kids have never experienced snow and we thought it would be fun to drive north and spend a few days in the snow on Christmas. It seems it might not be too busy before the 26th? Where is the closest we could go to experience snow?

I imagine the ski resorts north of the Asheville area will be making the white stuff by then.

Then again, what with the weather, it may very well shape up to be a very cold winter and even Asheville and areas to the south might wind up with a white Christmas!

In the NC mountains there may be man made snow on the ski slopes but not on the ground around them. You just never can count on when it will snow naturally--and especially around Christmas.

WE currently are having snow in Virginia==

There is a ski resort outside of Charlottesville called Wintergreen...It is also currently snowing there...

However, if temps drop, you would have Man Made snow until the real stuff falls again...

The only place you will probably be guaranteed snow on Christmas is in Vermont-New Hampshire-Mass....( all in the mountains ,of course)..Unless the blizzard hitting Baltimore and parts North keeps coming....

The Asheville area is not really high enough in the NC Mountains for gtd snow-But BEECH Mountain is the ski areas in NC mountains...and they WILL have Man MADE if the real stuff does not come down....That is your closest best bet for snow=real or man=made...It is still snow...

Andy, with respect I beg to differ. Snow isn't snow. Ever tried skiing on the manmade stuff? Not exactly powder. It really never snows in the south, but as other posters have said, your best bet will be North Carolina and north of that.
