Snorkel companies on Maui?

We took one trip on what I remember as The Trilogy out of Wailea and another out of Lahina with Capt Mike I believe. Both times we had great viewing as the water was calm and clear and warm. Saw sharks, eels and walls of fish that were so unusual. Had breakfast and lunch on the boat. It is crowded out there but you can snorkel away from the groups. Grab a little kick board off the boat as every once in a while a wave fills your snorkel and there is no place to stand. I have heard others complain that it was a waste of money as the visibility was poor. Depends on the day I guess. Over by the Kapalua Bay Hotel is a wonderful cove for snorkeling. Lots of fish and they have a snack bar place there and it is just beautiful. Parking is at a premium.

Aloha Jeff! Koka here, from www.Maui-Info.com. There are many companies here on Maui offering snorkel adventures to Molokini, as well as numerous other destinations. Price is usually based on such things as food, snacks, length of trip, number of stops at various snorkel spots, etc. I suggest you call the person I rely on for up-to-date details on who's offering what at this particular moment, Dawn Loy with Hawaiian Safari Activities Reservations, 808-667-1988. Dawn has 13+ years in the business and is extremely knowledgeable and honest. For additional Maui-related information, don't miss our site at http://www.Maui-Info.com/visitorinfo.html. I hope this helps. If/when I can be of further assistance, don't hesitate: [email protected].

Aloha,
My wife and I just returned from ten days in Maui. Your experience will depend on the weather/water conditions, so pick a good day(s). We enjoyed the Trilogy line to Molikini and Turtle Town. Great crew, breakfast, lunch, sailing , snorkel, scuba. It can be a little crowded but still quite fun.
We also snorkeled with "Ann Fielding's Snorkel Maui". This was one of the best snorkel trips ever! It was just the three of us and she explained everything we saw in the water. Fun and educational. She will check tides and weather conditions to give you the best opportunity to experience sealife. You snorkel off the beaches and she brings a picnic lunch. A must!

Jeff,
We spent our honeymoon on Maui in September, and we took a snorkel cruise to Molokini on the Four Winds II. It was wonderful! They served breakfast, lunch and all drinks. The day we went was perfect. Molokini was beautiful. I think it cost around $62 per person, because of the food & beverages. I do remember seeing in all the brochures about a $39 dive with Boss Frog. You might try to do a search on them - I'm sure they have a web site.
One other note - we also rented snorkel gear for the week and went on our own off some of the beaches. If you are planning on doing this, (a) get the BEST gear (I think it's called impulse gear) and (b) take it with you on the boat. They have the cheaper kind where water can very easily get into your mouth. Have fun!

For something a little different, look into "The Pride of Maui" boat trip (I think it leaves from the same place as the Trilogy (which I also *highly* recommend!). The Pride of Maui is a larger boat with more varied age groups of people (kids too). What it offers is "Snuba" which is a cross between Snorkel and Scuba - you are have a mask and mouthpiece but the air line is tethered to the boat so you aren't carrying tanks on your back. They will also take a video of you underwater you can purchase to take home. I think lunch is served on board too. If you don't want to Snuba, you can snorkle off the boat too.
