Skiing Vacation

Hello, we are going to ATL on Dic and we are trying to find a place to sky no to far from Georgia. I found a place named Cataloochee@ Maggie Valley, NC. We are just beginners trying to practice a little bit, do u recommend it? Or do u know of any other place near to go skiing?

If you're traveling in December it probably won't be cold enough to make snow in NC. Sorry I can't be more help.

I live in ATL, and Cataloochee is not that nearby...I believe it's almost 200 miles (and I don't think travel would be on main interstate). I went there about five years ago with my family right after Christmas. We are all beginner skiers, and there was no real snow so we were basically trying to learn to ski on ice. Personally, I do not recommend driving all the way there for that. I went to Tahoe a couple of years later and found skiing out west to be a much better experience!

Oh, I agree with the skiing out West.
Very hard to beat Colorado and Utah.

It is very unlikely there will be any snow, or even cold enough to make snow.

I live in GA and not wanting to sound rude...but you will be wasting your time and money to even think about trying to ski anywhere around this area. They do make snow but theres no comparison what so ever compared to Colorado or Wyoming.

Maggie Valley is a long way from Atlanta. Like the posters said, it is unlikely there would be snow in December. Where are you from? How long are you staying in SE?
