Sixteen dollar underwear?

No, I haven't tried them yet, but noticed them recently while shopping in an outdoor store. I forget the brand, and I suspect there's a few. The idea is to buy two and rotate, thanks to the quick drying fabric.
Has anyone invested in these? J.

If you are referring to Ex Officio, they are great for travelling.

Funny you mention it - my husband has recently discovered some outrageously expensive underwear and t-shirts at REI (and is replacing his Hanes with these). Soon his underwear will cost more than most of my clothes.

My husband invested in a pair for our last backpack trip to the Grand Canyon. He never got to try them out, 'cuz the dog stole them from the pile of things he set out to pack. We've never found them.

For men, they probably make sense, because the alternative is cotton which does take a long time to dry. For myself, I just take stretch nylon lace undies from Macy's---they dry very quickly after washing, and cost a lot less. Which is important when you have a thieving dog around. . .

BayouGal,

Ex Officio is available online and in stores like REI and other outdoor stores.

Dries fast, got my wife and I through Italy.

I went to your link, and they sound great. I am going to start purchasing some for DH now for upcoming trips, and maybe a few for me, too. Would like to comparison shop, though. Are there other brands?

Thanks, again!

Aaah yes, the $16 and up underwear at REI. My husband insists that they're worth it. He started buying them for backpacking and mountain climbing trips.

He doesn't buy the Ex Officio brand but instead buys the REI brand made out of some super fabric that supposedly justifies the super price tag.

If you want your own expensive underwear check out Patagonia's capilene underwear.

Ooops---somebody beat me to it. Patagonia makes very nice stuff for men and women; their name for it is Capilene. The silkweight ("SW") capilene tees for women are great for travel---they look like a silk knit and can double as a dressy tee.

Mother's Bistro is perfect. Casual, but good, and well behaved children are welcome there.

Agree with Red Star and Henry's suggestions.

BTW, we live here and have taken our children to these places. Ours our older, but these are all good ideas for the younger set.

LOL! How on earth did my restaurant suggestions end up on the underwear thread???

Anyway...kureiff--Wow, what you wrote about the mens underwear is exactly what I was about to post! Sure we don't share the same husband?!

I do like the Ex Officio for hiking/backpacking, but otherwise the Jockey or Wacoals are for everyday.

mms: If we share the same husband, then we need to split the underwear bill!

My husband's heading over to Mt. Hood and Mt. Adams next week for a backpacking trip. Maybe he can meet your husband and they can share underwear tips.

kureiff--LOL! My husband will be so jealous! He took our son climbing on Mt. Adams last year...and our son lost my Oakley sunglasses near the Lunch Counter there. So if your husband finds them, you can tell him who they belong to With all the REI purchases, the dividend seems like Christmas all over again. I am sure you feel the same way, lol!
