Six Flags over Georgia

What is the best area to stay in for the Theme Park? There are a bunch of suggestions on the website (partner hotels). Should I trust them, location wise, and should I have a preference for hotels that have "at Six Flags" in the title? Is the area around the park reasonably safe and pleasant to stay in? Is one day enough for the park? We will probably not be visiting the water park. Also am I losing my mind or did it used to be called "Six Flags over the South"?

As long as I have been going to 6 Flags (15+years) it has been called "Six Flags over GA". I would NOT recommend staying in the 6 flags area. It looks really sketchy in the area these days. The actual park area i think is safe. Aim for closer to Atlanta for a place to stay. That way it will also open up more activites for you. For me, one day would be plenty at a theme park. One full day will get you in most things...and you will be dog tired. Use the next day to enjoy the sights of Atlanta.

Do not, I repeat, do not stay in the area around Six Flags. I'm talking crack addicts and prostitutes.

I suggest staying in Midtown.

Will you have a car?

One day is plenty.

Midtown would be great.
The Galleria area would be a good alternative.

I completely agree with NOT staying in the 6 Flags area.

If you just want a place to sleep, consider the newer hotels around the new mall in Douglasville.

It's always been Six Flags over Georgia.

One day is enough.

We have a car. We're driving from Pennsylvania, as we have Six Flags Season passes and we are trying to hit all of the parks in the North and Southeast this season. Good to know about the area around the theme park. Thanks.

What a great trip! We did something similar for our 10th anniversary a few years ago, we hit a bunch of eastern parks in one summer. Have a great time!
