SirCam virus
I'd read about this virus on Fodor's Europe board two days ago, so was forewarned when the email showed up in my box yesterday. Phew. Thought I'd pass the favor along here. By coincidence, it took down our hotel's network yesterday as well.
The body of the email will read something like:
Hi! How are you?
I hope you can help me with this file that I send
or
I send you this file in order to have your advice
or
I hope you like the file that I sendo you
or
This is the file with the information that you ask for
See you later. Thanks
It may also be in Spanish.
Delete the email without opening the file attachment which contains the virus, and you'll be fine. The email may appear to come from someone you know, or, as in my case and two others I know of, from complete strangers.
There are a couple of sites with fixes, including this one with more in depth info http://www.norman.no/virus_info/w32_sircam.shtml
Stay healthy!

This virus showed up in my Email today. It came from my brother's address book. He lives & works in Germany. & the email had his name as the sender but the actual email address was not his. The subject was ITINERARY & the first line was Hi! How are you. The email came with an attachment & the attachment file, in my case, is where the virus would have been if not deteted by our anti-virus system. Our Norton Anti-virus system stopped it from spreading.

I have gotten the same thing and I think it is from someone trolling the Fodors site. I have gotten it with several names of people who post here and on the Carribean board.
Is there anyway we can find out who is sending it? Sending viruses is illegal and can ruin a computer.
If you see this in your email inbox DELETE, DELETE, DELETE IMMEDIATELY.
I would be interested in hearing if anyone else has gotten this email.
