Should we or Shouldn't we??

We really like the Southernmost Motel located in Key West. We really liked it from looking at it on the internet. We are thinking of booking reservations. Any input from actual patrons or people with knowledge of it? Thanks!! We leave 1/17.

Hi Samantha...I stayed at the Southernmost Motel on my first trip to Key West a few years ago and I liked it...I had a room on the 2nd floor overlooking the pool and although it wasn't luxurious, it was clean and nicely decorated...the staff was very friendly...I also liked that you could walk to the southernmost spot in the US and into town...they also rented mopeds.

It is nothing great but usually a good deal. The location is nice and they have a decent pool area. I saw in your name you are on AOL, check out the travel board there and you will get more info.

We stayed there this summer and thought it was nice. Good for the money. After we booked, we were told by a few people that it was far away from the action but it really isn't. Only about a 10 - 15 minute walk down to Mallory Square. We never moved our car once we were there. We were on the first floor and I would recommend asking for a second floor room.

Thanks for the input. We had narrowed down our choices between the Blue Marlin Motel and the Southernmost. It is important to us to be close to the nightlife. Within walking distance. Maybe late at night. Will it be safe for 4 gals at night walking back to our motel?

you will be safe. Just avoid walking around Bahama Village at night. The worst thing that might happen is you would be approached to buy drugs.

So would you pick the Southernmost over the Blue Marlin based on proximity to fun, nightlife.. etc. I think we are leaning to pick the Southernmost. We just want to make sure. Of course, any other suggestions are welcome too.

I agree with the previous post....post your question on the AOL Board. There are 100's of posts about the Keys and Key West alone.

The Blue Marlin is old and in need of major renovations and redecorating. It's a dive.

I would pick Southernmost Motel over the Blue Marlin. Both are basically in the same location but understand you are not in the middle of things but very close to them. Most of the bars and nightlife are at the other end of Duval Street in about the 1st 4-5 blocks. The Southernmost is at the other end of Duval (13-14 block street) on a street that runs perpendicular to it.

Go with the Southern Most Hotel, its not all that bad as the previous posters have said. Cain't expand on it anymore, have fun & enjoy your time there. Go to the travel section on the left most bottom of your screen for the AOL travel message board on Key West. It will show you how to get there & get more answeres for your question.
