Short Visit to Vegas- Which Hotels should I see

WE only have a short time in Vegas, arrive at 1pm and have that afternoon and evening and then the following day we have an overnight trip to the Grand Canyon and then back on the Friday about lunchtime and fly out first thing Saturday morning. Which casinos should I see, thinking Bellagio, Caesers, Venetian, Paris, ?? Would I fit these in during our stay. Also considering a real "Vegas" show, Follies Bergere at the Tropicana what are your thoughts. Not sure about Rio, I have read that the Masquerade show is great and that the view from the ?Voodoo Lounge is worth seeing. Any comments. Thanks.

Your list is fine depending on what you like. Venetian is out of the way a bit but Bellagio, Paris and Caesers are all very close to each other and can be done in the afternoon even considering the Forum shops and a meal. I would suggest that if you are staying in that area, that you consider going to Jubilee at Bally's for your "real Vegas" show. Basically same as Follies and easier to get to unless you are going to be on the South end anyway. Oh and be sure to go the late/adult version of either of these shows.

Rio is OK, the free show is just a few minutes...maybe 10. If this is your first visit, I would probably skip it.

If you are going to be on the South end of the strip, I consider NYNY a must see. They have an area that is dedicated to fire departments with momentos from around the country on the outside edge of the brick wall around the statue of liberty. Pretty neat but the whole property is cool IMHO.

On the subject of view....go up the Eiffel Tower in the evening/night rather that trek out to the Rio.

Bellagio for the fountains and general class and elegance, Paris - cause it's cool, and the Venetian I guess. They could have done a better job with it, but it's worth a look. If you have kids, go to the Mirage. Ceasers is undergoing a MAJOR renovation, but the shops are neat, it's just impossible to find your way out because most of the exits are closed.

Bellagio and Paris are across from each other. Ceasers is on the way to the Mirage and the Venetian. It'll be hot, so take the new monorail!

Rio - the masquerade show is very cheesy. It's people in "floats" that are attached to the ceiling on a track. They have a great deli though and the buffet at the Palm is wonderful. Rio also supposedly has the best seafood buffett in town.

Ballys has Jubilee which is across from the Bellagio and connected to Paris. That is supposed to be a real Vegas show. Go to the Giant Coke bottle down near MGM to get tickets for half price. They open at noon.

If you can make it down to NYNY, definitely peek in, and also to the Luxor - the giant pyramid. But they are at the south end of the strip. With the new monorail though you may have time.

Have fun. Lose some money for all of us.

My favorite hotel casinos in Vegas in no particular order are Caesars, NYNY, Bellagio, Paris, MGM and Aladdin. Venetian and Mandalay Bay are OK but nothing special IMHO. Aladdin has the best shops but Caesars is adding some more shops so it should be right up there with Aladdin. Saw Le Femme at MGM and loved it! Have a great time!
