Short Road trip help please

Hello travel friends please could you comment or make suggestions on this road trip we are squeezing in after an event in November. Given our age and the season we will be interested mainly in scenic drives, short hikes, history, food&wine.

We would leave Milpitas on 17th morning and drive to Yosemite via Mariposa and Oakhurst. Spend the first night at Wawona Lodge.

18th visit the park and sleep/eat at the Ahwanhee Lodge.

19th drive via route 120 with a stopover in Sonora/Murphys/Angel Camp? We liked the look of Knowles Hill B&B in Sonora but not sure about which town is nicest.

20th one night in Sacramento

21st/22nd staying with friends in Sonoma

23rd San Francisco (we have already been a few times)

24th Evening Fly back to Italy

Any comments on this itinerary or interesting stopover suggestions much appreciated.
Thanks!
PS . Just thought, could another option be to fit in Lake Tahoe?

Does your second comment mean you are no longer interested in comments/suggestions about your possible trip?

Ditto. Are you still looking for info/advice ir do you want to delete the topic? If you want either the entire thread or just the 2nd post deleted, you can click on the orange triangle and ask the moderators to delete either or both.

Any of the three (Sonora, Murphys, Angels Camp) would be great - me personally I really like Murphys but have stayed in Sonora a couple of times and Angels Camp once. Murphys and Angels Camp are smaller than Sonora and have a more 'Gold Rush-y' feeling

Hi Thank-you! Sorry for the misunderstanding I am still totally interested. The second blank post was the one I wanted to delete - not my first one!

It was recently announced that the Wawona Hotel would be closing Dec. 2nd for an unknown period of time because of safety and other issues discovered during a current repair project.

I love the Wawona, but I fear the last days before closing might not be enjoyable. And the fact that the announcement came with only a few weeks' warning would have me a little worried about the seriousness of the "safety issues." I would try to extend the reservation at the Ahwahnee.

Because I'm not a fan of a string of one- and two-night stays, I wouldn't include Sacramento in this trip. A third night in Yosemite would be my preference.

Just FYI, flying out of any U.S. airport on Nov. 24th could be "challenging," to say the least. This is the end of the Thanksgiving weekend, the busiest travel day of the year. Arrive early at SFO and pack your patience.

Jean, thank-you so much for this. Especially the warning about travel on the 24th. We hadn't thought about this at all and I was even thinking of paying for a late check out since our flight is at 8pm. Now we will for sure try to get as close to the airport as possible in good time.
Thanks for the tip about the Wawona. I have just read in the LA Times that the Ahwahnee is just as bad as far as safety is concerned. They don't know when and if the Wawona will ever open again so we might just risk it in case it's our last chance! We don't mind changing hotels every night vs long driving times. But good to know and I will keep checking for updates on the situation.
