Shopping in Austin

My wife and I have traveled to Hill Country in Texas and love the shops in Fredericksberg. We have lived in Texas for years and NEVER stayed in Austin. We plan on correcting that oversite in a few weeks. We love the shops in Fredericksberg and love anitque and unique shops. We are staying at Omni downtown. Any suggestions for our 4 day trip. Shopping and eating (planning on Salt Lick)

thanks as always

I'm not a shopper, but I know there are a bunch of unique shops on South Congress. Here's a link to a list and map of them. http://www.austincityguide.com/acg/C...opping-listing

One unique store that I do enjoy visiting is Toy Joy at 2900 Guadalupe.

I dropped a wad of cash in the South Congress area a few weeks ago. Grab a bite at Home Slice while you are there!
While I hate most of the outlet mall scene, be sure and check out the store list online for the outlet in San Marcos. I always go just for the Kipling outlet. 75% off section almost always offered and I can't resist last seasons travel accessories!

You might be surprised to enjoy shopping at Central Market or Whole Foods. These are not your everyday grocery stores! You'll find on site dining and lots of goodies to entice you to take some things back to your hotel room or home as souvenirs. Since you are downtown, Austin Wine Merchant is a good place to browse and buy from an excellent wine selection. Clarksville Pottery is more than the name implies and a great place to find original and handmade art pieces. SoCo has lots of fun and interesting shops. Tell us what you like to shop for and we can give you more targeted ideas.
