Sheraton, Hyatt, or Marriott on Kauai?

Should we stay at the Sheraton, Hyatt, or Marriott on Kauai? We aren't bringing kids.

I've been to both the Sheraton (1999) and the Hyatt (1995). They are two TOTALLY different hotels. If you're into a large (and I mean MAMMOTH) hotel with lots of walking from beach to room, to dining, stay at the Hyatt. The hotel itself is beautiful - birds in the lobby with a "sanctuary" area for them... but it just wasn't all that it could have been for the price that we paid (we were honeymooning and splurged for a "ocean view room" - a tiny slice of it that we could see from our first floor room).

The Sheraton is a smaller hotel, tucked away at the end of a road. It has it's own beach (without warnings of riptide currents, which were always posted at the Hyatt) with an absolutely gorgeous view from the dining room in the morning. It had a very calming effect on us; everything was neat, clean and refreshing - had only been open for about a year when we went. My husband went on a fantastic scuba diving trip with the instructor there...

Sheraton would be my pick, but I don't know anything about the Marriott....

If you are a beach person - go Marriott
or Sheraton. If you like pools - go for
the Hyatt. We stayed two years ago and
cannot wait to go back. Beautiful grounds and a great pool. Our balcony
looked over the grounds to the ocean and
could not have been nicer. I highly
recommend it.

The Marriott is very close to the airport if you don't mind the noise, it's ok

I vote for the Hyatt. The hotel and grounds are very nice as are the restaurants. The best is the Anara Spa if you want to pamper yourself a bit. Also if you golf, their course is wonderful I hear, although I am not a golfer. They put on a decent luau also with very good luau food and the free drinks are not limited to your standard mai-tais.
The Sheraton is nice. I also stayed there and their ocean front rooms are much closer than those at the Hyatt, but grounds and pools are not as nice. They do have a great beach there and it is usually not too crowded. Some of the garden rooms are across the street from the beach in a back building, so I recommend ocean front if in your budget. Sheraton would probably be quieter than Hyatt but not as posh. Depends on what you are looking for.
I have not stayed at the Marriott as I do not like the area it is in. The beach out front is ok but it is really next to an industrial/port area that lacks charm of any kind. The cruise ships dock here as well as alot of container ships etc..
Good luck in your trip. You will like Kauai. Be sure to drive the North Shore, its gorgeous with lots of exquisite beaches.
