Sheraton Boston Hotel

Any info on this place? We are staying here for a conference in Sept. Any restaurants or bars nearby that shouldn't be missed.

It's a great hotel and location. You'll be right in the middle of everything. You can walk down nearby Newbury St and find just about any type of restaurant you'd like.

Thanks Junglecat, but are there any local places you would recommend. We like seafood, Italian, steaks, and even just a good burger or pizza joint.

Abe & Louie's on Boylston right across from the Prudential Center (which connects to the Sheraton) has magnificent steaks, Saturday/Sunday brunch and a great bar.

We also like the bar and jazz at the Copley Plaza - the Oak Room.

As Jungle Cat said, though, there are dozens of places within a few blocks walking.

See www.phantomgourmet.com or Zagat's for assistance in finding those you might find most appealing in advance.

You'll be a short walk from one of Boston's best (and most expensive) restaurants - Ambrosia, on Huntington Ave. Well worth a visit if you're looking for something that upscale. Right next door, for much less money, is Brasserie Jo - an authentic French bistro right down to the menu and wine list.

Skipjacks is on Clarendon Street within walking distance of the Sheraton and ask directions for Jasper White's..right around the corner from the hotel..a little hard to find.. a friend who was visiting Boston loved it. Oh yes.. dont forget to go on a Duck tour...they are right outside the Prudential Center.. a don't miss for tourist and Bostonian alike.

SuzieQ, I left off my recommendations because it has been a few years since I lived in Boston but here goes:

Top of the Hub - At the top of the Prudential Ctr Tower, there is a lounge and a restaurant. You can kick back in the lounge and have a few drinks and order apps. Awesome views and right next to the Sheraton.

Charlie's Saloon - on Newbury St. More reasonable prices than Top of The Hub but pretty good American food and excellent margaritas.

Rattlesnakes Bar? - on Boylston between Arlington and Berkeley (cross streets in Back Bay run A,B,C, etc...). The reason I put a ? is because everytime I went there, I ended up too drunk to be sure of the name. Anyway, there is an upstairs roof bar and good for afterwork.

Library Grille or Cheers - a little out of the way but worth the hike to me. Library Grille is the restaurant above Cheers and the food, view, and atmosphere is excellent but a little on the romantic side. Cheers itself has multiple seating options but I like the dining room on the street level.

In the Sheraton's immediate area, there are always safe choices like Legal Seafoods, Hard Rock Cafe etc but I try to stay away from anything too chain-like.

If you'd like recommendations for other parts of the city, especially nightlife, let me know and I'd be happy to help. Just clue me in on ages, interests etc.

Was at the Sheraton Boston in May-- It was a terrific location--

We ate in Legal Seafood at the Marriott location--definitely get the CLAM CHOWDER and if it is on the menu, the black and white seasame crusted tuna--to die for...

We also went for Sushi right across the street at GYUHAMA
827 Boylston St. Boston, MA 02116
(617) 437-0188
Hours: 12pm-2:30pm; 5:30pm-1:30am daily

and we also had dinner at this super CASUAL funky seafood right around the corner from the back door of the Sheraton:

Jasper White?s Summer Shack

50 Dalton St., 617-867-9955
