Shenandoh Valley weekend

Can anyone suggest a spot here? We are planning on a long weekend with 2 small children. We are open to a hotel or a home rental.

Thanks!

Where will you be coming from, and how far south into the valley do you want to go? What are your interests?

Hi! We will be coming from the Fredericksburg area. We were thinking of the Central Valley. As far as interests, we just wanted to relax, eat, shop and maybe do a little sighseeing. We have small children so museums and battlefields won't hold much interest. We were trying to go over Labor Day so I know there are plenty of festivals in the area that weekend. So, finding things to do won't be a problem but where to go? We don't want to be in a "city" such as Charlottesville but a town would be fine. How big is Harrisonburg?

Harrisonburg is larger than Fredericksburg.

I was going to suggest Massanutten resort, but it eas panned pretty well on Trip Advisor.

Staunton is nice, sort of like downtown Fredericksburg. The museum of American Frontier Culture is there and very interesting. You could also drive over to Monterey in the highlands which is a nice drive. That is west of Staunton, and of course there is always Skyline Drive.
