It's high time we took back our beaches. I suggest all on either seaboard immediately don a "BITE ME" tee, and walk the shoreline. Ciao

Did Howard intend to include loan sharks in his war? If so blood will be spilled!

Yes, Curious, you are correct. Death by vending machine is when your treat hangs up in the machine, so you figure you'll give it a little tip, and the whole very heavy machine mashes your kidneys right into the cement.

People have won these lawsuits, as it is foreseeable that people will shake the machines when their treat gets stuck, so the machines should be bolted to the wall. Don't laugh -- some of the people killed were kids.

Next time you use one of these machines, have a look. It is probably bolted to the wall.

Cindy, I hope they are all bolted! I happen to be consulting at a law firm right now so I think I'll go have a look in the lunchroom. I bet they're bolted here! Amazingly, they are not bolted at the beach, where kids are constantly shaking them. From now on I'll stand next to my kids when they use the vending machine!

We are not interested in sharks, we dominate the vending machines. Don't any of you humans pay attention to our publicist Stephen King?

Boycott Mars!

Thank you for the vending machine info. It makes sense.

I could not believe it while tuning in to hear more about the attack. Guess Fodors is better at providing information than CNN, but that isn't saying much. Don't mean to lower Fodors contributors by comparing them to CNN.

I wonder whose job it is to look up all that useless data now shown on their telecasts?

I always thought the machines were bolted down so they don't get stolen. Like they remove one tire from those roadside electronic signs.

I bet someone out there knows some web site (maybe CDC) that has statistics on causes by death.

Don't worry all! The wise governor of Virginia has created a shark task force to look into our recent attacks. Our tax dollars will be well-spent when they come up with their recommendation that sharks stop biting people!

Worrying about sharks is so hopeless. The Washington Post reports that the recent attacks were likely the work of bull sharks. While watching "Shark Week" on the Discovery Channel, I learned that bull sharks can transition from salt water to live for a good long while in fresh water by swimming up rivers -- 2000 miles up river! The bull shark is one tough shark.

Shark attack risks are just something we have to live with.

Swim and let swim, I guess.

Maybe Gov. Gilmore might have Kofi Annan negotiate with the sharks. This shark crisis shouold be topic #1 at the UN Security Council.
