Yes, Curious, you are correct. Death by vending machine is when your treat hangs up in the machine, so you figure you'll give it a little tip, and the whole very heavy machine mashes your kidneys right into the cement.

People have won these lawsuits, as it is foreseeable that people will shake the machines when their treat gets stuck, so the machines should be bolted to the wall. Don't laugh -- some of the people killed were kids.

Next time you use one of these machines, have a look. It is probably bolted to the wall.

Don't worry all! The wise governor of Virginia has created a shark task force to look into our recent attacks. Our tax dollars will be well-spent when they come up with their recommendation that sharks stop biting people!

Worrying about sharks is so hopeless. The Washington Post reports that the recent attacks were likely the work of bull sharks. While watching "Shark Week" on the Discovery Channel, I learned that bull sharks can transition from salt water to live for a good long while in fresh water by swimming up rivers -- 2000 miles up river! The bull shark is one tough shark.

Shark attack risks are just something we have to live with.
