SF Bay Bridge closed this weekend

Another thread reminded me to post this - be forewarned: the Bay Bridge will be closed from 8 p.m. Thursday until 5 a.m. next Tuesday.

And hopefully all will go well and the bridge will open up Tuesday morning! It sure has taken long enough and will still be years, 2013 I believe, before the project is completed.

BART will be running once an hour after midnight to 14 BART stations. Here is BART's website with the Labor Day weekend schedule.

BART will be running 24 hrs, and maybe the ferries will have extended hours? Not sure about AirBART, I hope it will have extended hours too.

My newspaper reports that extra ferries will run Friday from Alameda Harbor Bay and from Oakland from Saturday to Monday. Extra ferries also will be run from Sausalito and Larkspur.

I will never forget the first year they did this.
My uncle, who lives in the East Bay, was having a family BBQ, and we on this side of the bay all refused to believe that the bridge was really going to be closed. Quelle messe!

We are going to a wedding in Marin Saturday (from the peninsula) and are allowing two hours for what should be a 45 minute trip, just in case, due to the extra traffic likely.
