Seven Gables Inn

In early November, My wife and I are planning on spending our second anniversary in the Carmel area. We have narrowed our accommodation down to the Seven Gables Inn in Pacific Grove. Good choice? And, any particular room we should ask for?

Well, it looks good on those TV commercials that warn you to bring your Visa because they don't take American Express...
So it must be a nice place if

We live 1/2 mile from the Inn, and decided to spend the night of our 25th wedding anniversary there. It is as delightful inside as it is from outside. I don't recall enough of the rooms to give a specific recommendation, but every one appeared unique and charming, so I don't think you can go wrong.

Pacific Grove itself is a delightful community with wonderful walking opportunities. There is a walking and biking trail along the ocean (rent bikes and ride into Monterey) and the Inn is a close (3/4 mile) stroll to the Monterey Bay Aquarium. Local restaurants include the Old Bath House (very expensive, but very good)on the bay near the Inn, Gernot's in Pacific Grove (moderate price, great food in a Victorian House), Taste Cafe (fabulous food in a contemporary setting), Joe Rombi's (upscale Italian), and Fandango's (moderate price American & Mediterranean menu). If you can't book this Inn, give some thought to there "sister" Inn which is next door (Grand View). It is operated by the same family. The other on-the-ocean choice would be Green Gables Inn. Have a great time!

I wa at a meeting nearby at the Monterrey Bay Inn and we walked past there on the path along the ocean. It was evening and they had the windows open and the lights on and it was gorgeous. I can't describe to you how quaint it was. I think its a perfect choice. The area is lovely.
