September Road Trip in New England

Hello,

My husband and I are thinking about doing a one week road trip starting September 19, 2015 through New England. We are planning to leave Toronto and drive to Portland, ME, passing Montreal and White Mountain National Forest. Then, down to Boston and Cape Cod. And from Cape Cod, back to Toronto through Albany and Syracuse. Does it sound like a reasonable itinerary? We would like to see the natural beauty of the area and stay at B&B's. Any suggestions about roads to take, things to see and do, places to stay and lobsters to eat, are greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

For me that would be way too much driving in a week.

The question is why that specific itinerary? What are the reasons for it?

Have you checked the total mileage?

It will be high season for the fall colors and hence the B&Bs will be booked early.
I'd do some Vermont looking for the red maples!

Montreal to Portland is about seven to eight hours drive.

Toronto to Montreal also takes about seven hours.

That's 28 hours of driving just to get to Portland and back.

The drive from Portland to Cape Cod and back adds another seven hours.

All of the above gives a total of four days of driving.

Personally, I don't think yours is a reasonable itinerary.

Sounds to me as if what you're mostly going to see are boring highways. My advice, at a minimum, would be to delete the Boston/Cape Cod segment.
