senior spring break. any nightlife?

In april I will be going to maui for about 6 days with a group of friends. We are seniors in high school, and we are going here on spring break. I have heard that there isnt anything to do at night on maui. Is this true? If not, are there any fun spots to go at night? any dance clubs? Because we are only in high school, are there any other (budget friendly) suggestions on things/places to go or see while we are in Maui? Thanks for your help!

Have you gone yet? If not, there is night life on Maui, I just don't know if you have to be 21. There are a lot of places that have bands playing and you can dance there too. Ask around when you get there. Good luck!

Meg, read all the various "Maui Heidi" etc posts on here, you're bound to find some answers. Probably the reason you haven't heard more is that Maui wasn't in your title. I thought perhaps you were talking about Florida, Cancun etc. til I read your post. Have a great trip.

Aloha All
For Meg, (03/07/00)
RE: Nightlife on Maui....
If you are under 21 I am very sorry to
say but you are going to have a very hard time finding any dance clubs..ect
All the clubs on front St. in Lahaina
are for the over 21 crowd...
I would suggest that you put your efforts to planning active full days
so you will be ready to crash at night..
Again I am sorry...

Mahalo,

Must be nice to go to spring break in maui as a HS senior....I wonder will there be parents/chaperones there or will they just be on their own?

you guys should have thought of the drinking age issue and booked a trip to mexico or the caribbean instead of the US....why do you think cancun and jamaica are such popular COLLEGE spring break destinations....
one other question, how do you anticipate getting around maui without a car? the youngest age for car rentals last i checked was 25.

Sorry to tell you what you don't want to hear but you're still young for nightlife!

Maui Heidi's advice was good. You are very fortunate to be able to go to Hawaii at your age. Go to sleep early so that you can enjoy full days of hiking plenty of and exploring the natural beauty and other attractions. Or, spend the nights chatting and observing the sky NOT having sex!.

Hopefully, your parents are not letting you go without adult supervision!

Aloha Meg!
Sorry to say, but Heidi is right. There's not a lot to do on Maui at night for under aged (under 21) people. I'm 22 now and I visit family on Maui quite frequently. They had to try and sneak me in to places when they went out (used all the connections they had) and I still ended up driving back home, majority of the time, to wait for them to be picked up. Waikiki on O`ahu would have more for you to do. Also, another person made a good point. Maui has no public transportation, like the Bus system on O`ahu, and unless you just stay in one area, you'll need a car to get around. If there's anything else I can help you with, let me know!
