Sending food from UK to US
Hi, I am trying to order a gift of packaged food from England to New York City (where I live). Can anybody who has done this advise on the best way to handle this regarding customs? The items are chocolate truffles and christmas pudding, apple pear chutney and honey. Is there a carrier that works with food items?
Can the restaurant I am ordering from just package and take to UK post office?
please advise.

The OP has a long thread on the Europe forum.
S/he wants a hotel to send prepared foods - that is entirely different than what F&M and other specialists do. And it isn't a 'home made care package' like anyone can send. It is a commercial kitchen that isn't geared to exporting food.
I think it isn't practical/doable.

It's certainly doable. You will have to research import/customs regulations and advise the shipper ahead of time.

"Food that is sent to an individual in the U.S. for personal use (i.e. not for resale) by a business is subject to special requirements of the Food and Drug Administration. Businesses that send goods to the U.S. must file prior notice. Prior notice may be filed on-line if the goods are being sent through the postal service.
When filing prior notice, you will be asked to provide the following:
-The identity of the article, which includes the FDA product code (if known), common name, trade or brand name, quantity, etc.
-The manufacturer, shipper, or growers' name and address, e-mail address, telephone and fax number (if known),
-The country from which the article originates and is shipped or mailed."
