self contained apartments in san francisco

Hi there,
We( 2 adults 2chn) plan on staying in san francisco for a week in a few weeks and have been looking for accommodation in Japan town, san fran. Have now changed my mind and am interested in apartment style accommodation either in Japan town, union square or any other good downtown area. It just needs to be a good location and mid range is ok.
Any suggestions on where to look?
Thanks
Heather

Check out Grosvenor Suites on Nob Hill where we had a one-bedroom apartment with a fabulous city view and a light breakfast included: http://www.grosvenorsuites.com/index.htm

We have used and just love.. www.homeaway.com. It's just my husband and myself, but we would much rather spread out a bit and have access to a kitchen and laundry facilities for longer stays. A two bedroom would be just the ticket for you and your family. Good luck!

In the upper right part of the screen you see "advance search" - search for NeoPatrick, it's the poster who rented apartments through VRBO in San Francisco, at least twice that I know, in different parts of the city.
