TC,

<snippy> I don't have a problem. Though I did have quite a giggle as you've described your own behavior with regards to other locations *koff*unionsq*koff*.

Just so we're on the same page, this is what Teadrinker asked:
...Rest of the trip: Staying 5 nights in SF in order to visit St. Mary's College and SFU. Any great hotels in SF to recommend to us? We've got to "hang out" for the weekend in SF., so we get to play a little, have fun in-between college visits over the weekend...would love a nice luxury hotel close to some sights a 17 year old would like. Would you recommend staying near Fisherman's wharf? Anyone know if the sea lions would still be hanging around the piers? She'd love to see them... -AND-
...Now I am trying to figure out which hotel to stay in in San Francisco that my daughter would absolutely swoon over. She is interested in Advertising/Marketing, so I wanted a real visual hotel for her. I was looking at the Clift and Triton...of course we need to be able to get to Moraga, CA and the San Francisco University pretty quickly and easily from whichever hotel we select around San Francisco...

It's pretty clear that she's asking for San Francisco. I also saw use of the terms Very Nice, Luxury and Highly Visual. Your recommendation for JLS fits NONE of those criteria. </snippy>

Tea Drinker,

The only East Bay lodging that comes even close is the Claremont in Berkeley. It's a big white old fashioned hotel that looks kind of Victorian.

The EastBay, while wonderful in many different ways, doesn't really manage high class particularly well. It's fairly non-glitzy. While it would be very convenient to Holy Names, it's not particularly convenient to SF State, which is on the west side of SF. It's also not particularly convenient to most of the sites that tourists want to see when they visit SF.
