BillyB, you are the lucky winner of my environmental note for the day: atv's are very destructive of the environment and are frowned upon by anyone who thinks and cares about the few unspoiled places we have left in this country (although Sedona is far from unspoiled); while jeep tours are also rough on the environment and also frowned upon by conservationists, we put up with them in order to prevent individuals from doing even more damage in their own 4X4's (by venturing off trail, and thwarting the other limitations placed on the licensed jeep tours). Sorry to rain on your parade, billyb, but this is an opinion forum, and that's mine. I do hope you enjoy your trip, and please consider factoring environmental impact into your travel planning.

I know, I know! I had to do it, and I really didn't mean to be rude. Sorry, I don't know anything about hot air ballooning.
I will tel you that we drove up Schnebly Hill Road--which, being a road, didn't bother me to drive upon!--in a 4x4 but never had to engage the 4WD, and saw others going up--slowly--in sedans. It's a great drive, with gorgeous scenery.

Schnebly Hill Rd. is closed to all traffic until later on when road maintenance equipment can restore it. Winter does a lot of damage. It is not safe.
