Hi
From what I have read, dogs are trained to sniff out particular scents. So a bomb sniffing dog would be trained to go for certain chemical scents, I guess. A drug sniffing dog would most likely not be a bomb sniffer, or one of the dogs that finds dead people.
These dogs are highly trained, I think like most companion dogs, one of the first things they are taught is not to do what a dog does naturally-smell everyone and everything that he comes across
They do work about 6 hours a day-then they get tired or disinterested, and have to stop.
We will see, I am flying out of Newark this week, I have a dog so we will see if any four legged critters are interested in me

ps-they do have a super sense of smell, not super human since they are not human but dogs can smell something like 1,000 times more than humans can.

I know there are probably several kennels who train dogs as sniffers.

BUT, the real TRUE professional sniffer dogs are trained at one particular and very famous kennel in Belgium. Forget the name of it, but the dogs are raised from birth for their role, nurtured all along the way, and are sold for big money.
