I never get under the covers in ANY hotel. When I get off the plane I look for a Walmart. Get 2 blankets (one to put on top of bed....one for over me) and one pillow for my trip. I can NEVER take a bath/shower in a strange bathroom
You're joking, right? You would spend a day sightseeing in heat and humidity and not shower??? Sorry for the people around you.

No reason to pass up B&Bs, especially if you are on a budget. I'm not suggesting AirBnB type places, but proper B&Bs that are taxed and inspected. I stayed here in Jasper and it was fine:

I have always wanted to talk to my Dr. about my "problem" but never brought it up. I never think and hotel shower is clean enough for me so I never shower on the road. I never think a bed on the road is clean enough for me so bring my own bedding. I could never use the hotel room silverware or drink from their glasses. I could never use their microwave because I think it's too dirty. I only take a trip once a year....so it only happens once a year.

I've been to Yellowstone/Grand Canyon/LV/Nashville/Toronto the past few years....no problem with cost.
I'm sorry but I have to respond to this. So you say you have traveled some but you never get under any covers, waste money-that could go to your stay costs-on blankets, and never use shower/bath? And you rule out certain lower cost stay options due to these "needs"? That seems absolutely positively unnecessary. Have you had bad experiences with hotel beds? I have traveled to 27 countries and 30 states and can say without reservation that no bed, bathroom, or shower has ever disappointed me or made me sick to the point of even complaining let alone feeling the need to take such extreme measures when traveling. Any hotel, chain or otherwise, worth it's salt couldn't survive if people suffered consistent problems based on their accommodations. Your post reads like you should not consider any future travel.
That being said, I will check my notes from my 2017 trip to see if I can offer any possible stays in your price range. But gardyloo is right, timing is everything in regards to what prices you will find. Things change. If too expensive now, check back in 3-4 months.

I am up to over 70 countries, and I have encountered only a handful of hotel rooms that were really gross, but none of them were in the US or Canada. One in Aleppo, which I abandoned, one in Palermo which I tolerated for one night and one on Lombok in Indonesia. Considerably more rooms had inconveniences, and there was one in Madurai, India and one In Casablanca where I slept in the silk sleep sack I carry for night trains instead of directly on the sheets. None of them made me ill. (Actually, the sleep sack would be a good substitute for buying bedding, it's very light and takes up little room, see https://www.allergybuyersclub.com/dr...eep-sacks.html )

If this is a real phobia then it would surely be worth discussing it with your doctor. There are psychological techniques for dealing with phobias.

amen on the sleep sack idea! Brilliant! then you'll always know how clean it is. this being a driving trip having any kind of your own bedding will be much easier.

There is no reason to doubt that illininutt is thinking of this trip or that he has extreme hotel bathroom phobia. (Some degree of hotel bathroom phobia is healthy, IMHO).

But he is a self-proclaimed troll:

Agreed. I rarely take a bath in one but I see no reason to forego showers. I have been getting a distinctly trollish vibe...

I can not get under the covers in ANY hotel. It is a problem I have had for years. This also includes the Luxor in LV. I need help from a Dr. but since it only happens once a year I never bothered. The last hotel before my trip back home is always the most expensive. I think the more it cost the cleaner it will be. That logic does allow me to shower the morning of my plane trip home.

I have found some places outside the Rockies. Golden/Hinton/Canmore/Valemount/Dunster. Would even consider a B&B if nothing else is available. Some of the hotels don't accept booking more than 1 year ahead.

You don't ever eat in restaurants?

I go to a resturant ONE time a year.....Vets Day. They places are sooooooo crowed on those days that they not let you take out. Denneys/Subway/Texas Roadhouse/Ed's Pizza/Applebee's....I'm set for the day and following weekend! I have no teeth and seldom eat in front of strangers. As a single person....a lot of my meals are ate in the car.

I go to Denny's one time a year.....Vets Day. Usually the one in Orland Park, Il. Get the Grand Slam and a milk for free! That resturant I eat-in. Get there before 5 am. Unlike Donnie or his 2 sons or son-in-law....at least in went in the military (06/68-06/70.)
