Jdaniell,
You are going to have a great trip! I am so excited for you! It is always exciting to explore new areas. I would suggest when you are in the Olympic Peninsula to check out the Solduc Hot Springs. We loved the area, and there is great hiking. If you have time to visit Kirkland, it is a waterfront community with shops and restaurants. Woodinville has good Wineries and is next to Kirkland. I am trying to pick one island to visit next week, for the day. Any suggestions with all your research?

I like your enthusiasm for my home state.
If you are seeking one island to visit, I suggest San Juan Island. The ferry docks at Friday Harbor, which is a delightful town to explore. If you will take a car, make a reservation on the ferry. If you park your car at Anacortes, you can get around the island on public transit: http://sanjuantransit.com
