Hello, I'll be arriving at 9pm at SeaTac and I need to get to Vancouver the next day.

Can you tell me:

1. How far is the airport from the Amtrak train.

2. Should I stay at hotel near Amtrak? Is there a basic hotel/inn near Amtrak? Or, is it better to spend night near airport, then travel early to train station?

Appreciate your advice.

King Street station is just south of downtown, near the sports arenas - about 20-30 mins from the airport depending on traffic.

Is your train early in the morning? I can't think of any budget hotels that are super-close to King St. There is a Best Western in Pioneer Square. If you are leaving early (no time to sightsee in the city) and are trying to keep the cost down, I'd be inclined to Priceline an airport hotel for the night.

Thanks for the help. Yes, I'll be leaving early on Amtrak, so it does make sense, cost wise, to stay near airport. From my research, it would cost about $35 for a taxi, I believe?

I found Sleep Inn from trip advisor site. Seems reasonable enough.

When I've done the same connections, I've used Priceline to get a downtown hotel and then taxi'd to the train station in the morning. It has worked well for me.

The Best Western Pioneer Square is very good, has lots of character, and is next door to one of the best Italian restaurants in Seattle, Al Boccalinos. I believe you could roll your luggage from this hotel to the train station (You could ask them, but they are close).

The only actual train to Vancouver leaves early. Otherwise, Amtrak offers busses which leave from a different location. So, if you're taking the train to Vancouver, you won't have much time in your room, anyway, so you might want to see what you can get on Priceline. (I doubt you'll be able to get as close to the Train Station as this hotel, though.)

As others have noted, the train leaves Seattle before you arrive at the airport. Although the train is a nice ride, it might be cheaper and more efficient for you to take a bus on the same day that you arrive. Check out the Quick Shuttle (http://www.quickcoach.com), which leaves directly from Seatac Airport at 10:30am, 1pm, and 4pm. It takes 4-4.5 hours to get to downtown Vancouver.

Yes the taxi from SeaTac to Amtrak station would be about $30-35.

The train to Vancouver leaves around 7-7:30am, right? So even with a SeaTac hotel you'll need to get up around 5:00am for time to catch a taxi, etc. the next morning.

Myself instead, I'd check one of the few hotels south end of downtown, near the Amtrak Station (like Silver Cloud or Best Western) or bid Priceline as mentioned above, and come into Seattle the night before.
