seaside vacation in september

me and my overworked partner need a nice small upscale seaside destination on east coast for second week of september lying in sun swimming reading and generally unwinding. want to be able to eat well - but simply - in the evening. anybody got any ideas? is the vineyard warm enough at that time of year?

Amelia Island, Florida would be a nice place to go; also Ponte Vedra Beach-just south of Jacksonville, or Crescent Beach which is by St. Augustine.

Sounds like Flora is asking for destinations of a more northerly East Coast persuasion.

I'd recommend any of the Northeast coast's shores because by September they will be emptied out with all the kiddies back in school. I'd suggest Cape May because of the huge selections of B&Bs and the Victorian architecture, fine dining and shopping. S. NJ should still be warm enough by mid-September since it in the 80s in PA then.

Here's another recommendation for Cape May. We visited on year the week after Labor Day and enjoyed it enormously.

Another wonderful September destination is Nantucket.
