Hi Teri! We're in Seaside right now. It's rainy today. Could the place you are referring to be Norma's Ocean Diner? Great seafood, but it is very casual. Mo's always has a long line, but it is in Cannon Beach and some find the food to be mediocre. Also, very casual and not really an anniversary type place. Let me know when you find out the name of the place.

The restaurant at the Shilo is nice and has great oceanviews but the dinners are pricey and mediocre there also, IMO. Can't wait to get out on that prom and ride my Del Sol Beach Cruiser! I'll give you a wave when I ride by! ***kim***

LOL, because I don't ride a bike.
There is a certain age that comes along when I don't think most women look that good from behind on a bicycle ( don't slam me, it is a personal opinion)
But I do drive a cool little car

Lucky Scarlett! I'm hoping to get to Portland soon to see my neice's new baby. If not, I will be there Sept 7 to 11. Anyone for a GTG?
Lucy

PS- Most people go for bike rides. It says something about a person when they go for a DEL SOL BEACH CRUISER ride. (Just what it says, I'll let you decide..)

Lucy--Great idea for a GTG! BTW, my bike mode preference is mountain biking. Will be doing some of that next month over in Bend.

Lucy, if not a big GTG, then a little one with mms and me
Once we are moved in and settled, I will be happy to attend a GTG.
Just don't make me ride a bike, if I had one it might have a name like RadioFlyer LOL

frogdahl, the only line I ever remember seeing at a Seaside Restaurant was at the Pig N Pancake. If you don't find what you like there, try the Pacific Way Cafe, 2-3 miles north in Gearhart. It's a cozy place in the quiet surroundings of small-town coastal Oregon. The food, which I would best describe as coastal comfort, has never disappointed the several times we've been there. Not up to the level of a Stephanie Inn or Gower St. Bistro, but none of the pretention either.

You and me both, mms (the mountain biking). Can't believe how much I'm looking forward to that week. LOL Scarlett, wasn't the RadioFlyer I had as a kid a red wagon? And regarding a pink(?) Del Sol Beach Cruiser bike ride, as my 13 year old daughter would say, ***kim***, waaaaayyyyy TMI.

I thought that they made little red RadioFlyer bikes too, with tassles hanging off the handle bars..lol.
My husband and my son are the bike riders, I can ride a horse! does that count?
Pig and Pancake..should I add that to the list of places we have to try?

You might be right on the RadioFlyer bike, Scarlett. Or, was it a tricycle? Horses do count! I've been surprised recently at how many people around here are serious equestrians. And the Pig N Pancake? There's one in Cannon Beach too. My daughter would recommend you add it to your list, but I'm hoping I've "dined" there my last time.

Beachbum--our family was just talking a few minutes ago how we are so anxious to get over to central Oregon. I have seen a Pig n Pancake around Tualatin or Tigard somewhere. Never had to nerve to actually go inside though, lol!

Scarlett--I am picturing you cruising around on a Radio Flyer tricycle...probably about the same speed as a del sol, huh?

LOL, I think I would prefer someone picturing me in a really nice sports car or on a really cool thoroughbred ..
When we go to Cannon Beach, I intend to walk for miles on that beach with the dog.
Is Seaside north of Cannon? That is where Astoria is, right?

Scarlett--Ok...a sporty little car for you instead Yup, you've got the geography right. Cannon Beach, then north of that is Seaside, then north of that is Astoria, except Astoria is not on the ocean, it is on the river. You will have it all down pat by the time you arrive here.

Hi frogdahl, Pacific Way (as previously menitoned) is open for dinner from 5-9 Thurs.-Mon. But if you still want to try it, I highly recommend it. We loved our meal there last night.

Meals include tomato bisque, a caesar salad or a green salad and freshly baked yummy bread. I had the proscuitto wrapped oceaqn scallops with smoked tomato polenta, shaved fennel and balsamic reduction syrup. It was wonderful. For dessert we shared the marionberry crisp with vanilla bean ice cream. I think you will be very pleased with this place, 601 Pacific Way, Gearhart. One of the best in the area and not to be missed. We're going back for the fresh pacific salmon soon and for the fish tacos for lunch.

Ambiance is very intimate and cozy and the service by both the owner and the waitstaff was attentive and professional. If not for your anniversary, check it out when you're in town! ***kim***

Glad you liked the Pacific Way Cafe, kimamom. Did you ride your bike there? If you happen to be near Gearhart some morning, try the bakery next door, which is under the same ownership.

Are there any non-stop flights to Portland from Fresno? Or do you have to fly thru SF, LA Sact, etc?

I have some friends that live out your way and they are always complaining about "you can't get there from here" types of tales.

I did see Goonies on HBO last night and we may work in a trip to the Ore Coast if there is a Portland GTG we can attend.
Mahalo,
Kal
