We are staying in Seaside for our anniversary June 15th. Can anyone recommend an excellent restaurant where we might make reservations ahead of time?

Care to give us some idea WHERE this Seaside is? There are several towns in the USA called Seaside . . . . . .

Sorry I am new to posting on this site. I am speaking of Seaside Oregon. I guess I thought this posted just to the Oregon site.

There is no "Oregon site" - just a general United States forum. Clicking on "Oregon" just lets folks search for info about Oregon. But all threads are lumped together on the one USA board.

As for Seaside - I don't have any specific recommendations but if you don't get other hits here you can always check tripadvisor.com and/or chowhound.com. Ofthen you will find lots of good infor on those two sites.

Type 'seaside restaurant' in the "search this forum" box above, choose "Oregon" in the next box, then press search. You should get several posts about SEaside dining.

frogdahl, If you don't mind the 10-mile drive to Cannon Beach, I know of a couple nice places there.

Kalypso is definitely the best restaurant in Seaside for a special occasion. I really like the pan fried oysters here, but had an average pasta entree last time we were there. It boasts one of the largest dining rooms on the coast and the ambiance is very nice.

I have heard great things about the Stephanie Inn and the Bistro in Cannon Beach. We enjoyed a very nice meal in CB at the Wayfarer in March. I was pleasantly surprised on how good the food is there. It was recommended by the owner of the Wine Haus in Seaside. He tried to get us into Stephanie Inn but they were full and when they called to tell us they had a cancellation, we had already made plans to meet our son at Fulio's in Astoria.

If you love Italian food, don't miss Fulio's, located in downtown Astoria. The Silver Salmon Grille is also very, very nice and is a nice place for a celebration. www.silversalmongrille.com Astoria is about twenty minutes from Seaside. Happy Anniversary! ***kim***

I am sorry to report that while we were staying in Cannon Beach this past winter we made the effort to go for dinner at Kalypso in Seaside and it was a big disappointment. The waitress was lovely--she has waited on us several times before. However, it must have been cook's night out because it's been a long time since I've paid so much for a meal so poorly conceived and executed.

As we were leaving, we encountered a couple with whom we had spoken while walking on the beach, and we warned them to go elsewhere.

Kalypso can only get better.

"Excellent" brings Stephanie Inn to mind; it is definitely the place to celebrate an anniversary. I think you can find an example of their menu on line.

Since we are recommending Cannon Beach, I'll second happytrails' Stephanie Inn, though it's been a few years since I had a meal there.

Which Bistro are you thinking of, kimamom? I think there's more than one. We had dinner at the Gower Street Bistro (100 yards from the Wayfarer on Hemlock) last Saturday night, and it was easily the second best (Stephanie Inn being #1) restaurant we've dined at in Cannon Beach. It's a small, intimate room, situated in a B&B. The menu leans toward France, but has some definite Pacific NW touches. You might consider it frogdahl. Be advised though, that they won't take a reservation until day of. A possible downside (also with Stephanie Inn) is that there's no ocean view.

By the way, ***kim***, I thought of you when I read the Travel section of Sunday's Oregonian. Fulio's was one of the restaurants reviewed in the article. I wouldn't have known about it except for your tireless recommendation.

Beachbum--I would love to hear how your weekend in CB was. Family called yesterday and mentioned that we need to put a trip together for the Surfsand again.

Beachbum, Thanks for the report on the Gower Street Bistro. Have you been to the downtown location of the restaurant formerly in the Gower Street Bistro location?

JP's I think, happytrails. We looked at the menu, but ran out of available nights! Judging by the prices, they're pretty proud of themselves. You might want to try EVOO, at the south end of downtown. It's a cooking school/kitchen shop that holds regular classes which double as meals. We were there last Friday night for their "Small Plates" class, which ended up being a five course experience with four different wines. Great fun and great food, but probably not an anniversary celebration place, frogdahl.

Hi mms! We had a great weekend; not a drop of rain (though it threatened). We were in the beachfront building, top floor south end corner room. SurfSand does a great job. They still do the ice cream socials, weenie roasts, and beach fires.

Went up to Ecola State Park twice - once for the scenery (read so I could take some pics), and once so son could check out surfer dudes/chicks at Indian Beach - visited Hug Point near where my family used to spend weeks every summer, and just generally bummed around. My wife and I went to a play at the Coaster Theater Sunday night: The Complete Works of Shakespeare - Abridged. 37 plays in 97 minutes. Hilarious! And in spite of having seen them all, I still have good reason not to cancel Ashland plans later this summer.

Beachbum--Sounds like a nice time. We always stay in that beachfront building too. We have not been for a weenie roast, but do love the ice cream socials. They even gave our Golden some when she looked interested, lol!

Thanks everyone, I am just now getting back here. I am going to check on Stephanies, and we are going on Saturday to Astoria, so will check on those places as well. Just love this forum.

Teri, did you book at the Stephanie Inn for your anniversary? I just made my reservation for this month. Just to let others know: you must guarantee with a credit card here, there are two sittings, one at 6:00 and one at 8:45. The Stephanie Inn offers a four course meal for $44/pp. and no children under 12 are allowed in the dining room here. ***kim***

Kim, sorry I did not. My husband is thinking we will go all the way up from Florence to Seaside and is wanting to get to Seaside early to check in. So am still checking into the best restaurant in Seaside. He remembers a place that there is always a long line, Seafood but not sure the name. So just surfing. Ha, get it. To see what I see. Thanks
