Searches on Fodor's

Posters are often told to do a search when they ask a question that's been asked many times before. I've suggested it myself. But I've also noticed that doing searches doesn't always pull up what you're looking for. Just now I wanted to find the name of the CD recommended in a thread Buckeyemom started. I put in relaxation gifts and got nothing. Because I remembered she had started the thread, I clicked on her name and it came up. Sure enough, the title was "relaxation gifts". So why didn't it come up when I put that in? Is there some trick? Or is it just kind of hit and miss sometimes?

It came up for me too. Could you have had a typo in your search? I know the search is somewhat spotty, but more often than not it seems to work decently, if the search terms make sense.

You can also type in the poster's name and all threads that they have started or posted on will come up.

I had the same thing happen.

I was trying to find the name of an out of print book that had to do with Judith Kranz's Scruples and nothing I put in would pull up the thread.

Finally, I realized I needed to search the Europe Forum I found the thread.

When you search, it only looks under the Forum you are currently in.

I find the search all fodors.com in blue link at the right hand top corner to be a much more effective search tool than the search this forum box.

Thanks for the responses. Maybe I did have a typo. I guess the important thing is that I did eventually find the info I wanted! Next time I think I'll try your suggestion, frankie, as I have had this problem before.
