Thanks much for all the helpful info. Leaving on 3/22 to begin my search. My REPLY agent called this morning to make plans. According to her the season is ending and by April 1 should be able to find a good deal.
Hope 2 dachshunds aren't going to be problems. Several places have 1 dog restrictions. Want detached patio home not condo. Dogs do bark occasionally & don't want people above or below me. Minimum 1500 Sq ft 3 Bed, 2 ba.

Very good. Look at the condo communities I mentioned. (All of the communities down here are condos if they are not rentals) They have both single family houses and patio homes.
Dukey: There is very little taxi service in this area; most people who do not drive hire one of the local drivers who are retired folks who drive for extra cash and live in their own community or nearby communities. Some people use UBER but I have not heard of anyone taking a conventional taxi service.

Sorry, LBloom, did you mean real estate agent?
I am not sure that the ending season has that much to do with condo prices but I might be wrong. If you would like to visit someone who lives in one of your target communities, let me know.

E, thanks for your offer. Will let you know when after I arrive. Will be staying with my 87 yo mother in Kings Point/Tamarac. Need to take her to couple DR appointments I am in progress of arranging. Let me know how to get in touch with you.

I know this is not far enough south for you but this is sort of funny. We are getting to the place where no maintenance sounds good. I am hating all the work our home has become. Two acres and all the trees. I am with you on the patio home and a garage is needed. Hoping you find a place for two pups. I have large dogs and hate the discrimination against them. They aren't yappers.
Latitude Margaritaville — named after Buffett’s best-known song, “Margaritaville — will open its first community in Daytona Beach for “those looking to live the Margaritaville lifestyle as they grow older, but not up,” according to a news release.
Current plans call for walkable neighborhoods, a fitness center and food and drinks from Buffett’s Margaritaville restaurant.
Margaritaville Holdings and Minto Communities announced the partnership last month.
