SE corner of Utah Campgrounds

I'll be traveling from Pagosa Springs, CO to Page, AZ and will swing thru the very SE corner of Utah. I'm traveling with a 25' travel trailer and need to hear suggestions for a campground in this corner of the state. A little surf turned up 2 campgrounds in Monument Valley (Gouldings, and Mitten View), 2 in Blanding (Devils Canyon, and Kampark) and 1 in Hovenweep (Hovenweep Nat'l Mon Campground). Looking for a site with a good view and a clean campground - not necessarily full hookup but shower availability is always a bonus. Thanks in advance!!

Hi fellow camper!

Hovenweep Campground is up on a mesa and you have some good views. No hookups and no showers. WATCH OUT FOR THE NATS! They ate my DH alive and bugs don't usually bite him. We really enjoyed walking around the Pueblo Indian ruins. They really are amazing.

Gouldings would probably be the KOA with full hook ups and an indoor pool. Ahhhh. We stayed there once. You have some very good views depending on the spot you get.

Mitten View is in the Monument Valley
Navajo Tribal Park. They have pay showers and no hookups but this place has some of the BEST VIEWS you will EVER find! This place it great for star gazing.

We've never stayed at the campgrounds in Blanding.

We've driven from Cortez to Bluff via highways 41 and 262 in our motorhome. And on another trip we drove from Bluff to Hovenweep. The road to Hovenweep is PAVED but you won't find a map anywhere that will show it paved.

Thanks for the replies - Utahtea, I was secretly hoping you'd respond as I've read your comments to others and found them extremely helpful. I have some other questions (mostly about campgrounds) that I will post when I get some time.

Hi Mary,

I'm glad I could be of some help. I'd be happy to try to answer any other camping questions. What other places are you going to on this trip? How long do you have?

If I miss your post here you can always find me over at iVillage. I'm a community leader on the Travel in the USA board.
