SE Alaska logistics

I'm trying to create an itinerary for a week-long trip in Southeast Alaska (not a cruise) in August. I have an idea of what we'd like to do, but I can't seem to find the flights/ferries schedules mesh to make it work. Maybe someone knows of some other airlines or ferry companies or some way to make it work - or just tell me to stop spinning my wheels and think of another plan. We'd be arriving in Ketchikan by flight around noon on a Saturday in August. We'd like to explore Ketchikan some the rest of Saturday, overnight and part of Sunday. We'd like to catch a flight from Ketchikan arriving in either Skagway or Haines for overnight Sunday night. I'm thinking that would require a stop in Juneau, so we'd be open to an evening ferry from Juneau to Haines or Skagway as well. I can't seem to make the schedules from Alaska Air and Alaska Marine Highway conveniently fit or the schedules aren't available that far out. I'm also not sure of how much time I'd need to allot to get to the flights or ferry docks. I'm hoping maybe there are some locally owned transportation businesses you could suggest? I think I've got the rest of the week's itinerary figured out, but I'm stuck on these first few legs. Maybe we'll have to omit Ketchikan from the trip and fly into Juneau. Thanks if you can offer any words of wisdom.

I can't help with flights and ferry schedules but in June 2015 i did an 11 day tour of SE Alaska including the ferry from Valdez to Whittier. We spent 2 nights near Denali, one night in Palmer, 1 night in Glennellen, one night in Valdez, 2 nights in Seward, 3 nights in Homer and 1 night in Anchorage. We had to rearrange our original schedule when after making our ferry reservation the day of the ferry was changed but we did receive enough notice so it was doable. The point being that sometimes the ferry schedule is changed.
Enjoy your trip, I loved Alaska and returned on a cruise this past July. That trip was plagued with overcast skies and rain and no views. I really enjoyed my trip by rental car and loved the scenery and people I met.
