Schlitterbaun New Branfels with 18-month old

We are 10 adults and one 18-month old boy headed to Schlitterbaun in New Braunfels. I know there are several kiddie areas in the East and West parts of the park, but do any of you have suggestions on where would be a great place to "camp" with coolers and the baby during the day. We'll be taking turns watching him and all our stuff, so it would nice to be in a convenient spot to some great attractions. I know you have to shuttle between East and West, so I am a little confused. I'd really like to have a game plan when we get there.

Thanks so much!

I'd say the best place is the older, West side. There is far more shade with mature trees, picnic tables, etc. It's not as big/sterile/concrete as the newer East side.

Schlitterbahn is the type of place where you can comfortably leave your cooler & beach bag as you roam - no need to schlep it with you if you want to venture over to the East.

The tadpool (#29) is a kids area.

if the rest of the group plans to spend most of the time in the East, where the bigger thrill rides are, then #6 the Kinderhaven in the Blastenhof section is a good location. You rely on some big umbrellas for shade.

Has anyone rented one the cabanas at Schlitterbaun?

Also, we are looking for something else to do on our other day in the area. Tubing is out because of the baby and we are already doing Gruene on the first day.

I imagine Sea World would be SO hot...

We will be staying in a Lake House near Canyon Lake, but can travel a little ways for something fun.
