After seeing The Producers twice in NYC, I was concerned whether the LA version at The Pantages would measure up ... I was very impressed with the entire performance and a marvelous job done by both Jason Alexander and Martin Short. If you're looking for great, high energy entertainment while visiting LA, I can highly recommend this play! It was excellent!

Who did you see it with in NY?

I saw it a couple of years ago with Nathan Lane and Mathew Broderick. They too were really great! Like myself, if you saw it with these two...it left a lot for the LA production to live up to, which it did....I was amazed and am sure the LA production will get rave reviews as well.

Have heard similar raves from friends who sw the Broderick/Lane production.
My tickets are in August.

Glad to hear it. I have tickets in June! Did you eat dinner near by, and was there parking near the theater?

I saw it with the originals in NYC too and loved it, but I have to admit, Gene Wilder and Zero Mostel were still the best. Even without all the glitzy musical numbers, that movie is a classic.

I understand tickets have been selling very well. It was a sell out for the matinee when we saw it. Friends tried to buy tickets with only 2 1/2 week notice and were shut out. Luckily, they were able to get good seats on ebay.com but may (?) have paid more than face value? Parking very near by was around $7 as I recall.

Glad to hear the good reports. I've been holding tickets for an August performance since they first went on sale.
Any comments about eating at Frank and Musso or Miceli's after the evening show? They both somehow seem "right" for the evening. Or another idea in the immediate neighborhood?

The last time I ate at Musso's I was very disappointed--soggy seafood louie salad, but I could have hit a bad night.

Another possibility nearby is Off-Vine. Cozy Hollywood bungalow with an American menu.

Sorry to hear about Frank and Musso's. I've eaten there several times and been pleased...but, haven't been there in more than a year. Based on those dinners back then, I would recommend it. (I believe I had a veal dish).Sorry to hear if it has gone downhill...hoping it was just an off night!

Thanks for the info, but I've tried to do OFF VINE before, and as I recall they aren't open after theatre. Sorry, we don't enjoy eating an early dinner before the show -- looking for a place for after, and not be rushed with "sorry, got to get your order; the kitchen is closing". But sometime I would like to try Off Vine.

I've had lunch at Frank and Musso's and enjoyed it very much, but I realize it is "old fashioned" food, not trendy. For example, I'd expect great chicken hash or potroast, but wouldn't consider ordering a seared rare tuna!

Going next Wednesday! Pig 'N Whistle is a fun place to eat. Cafe Des Artistes has fantastic food and a nice outdoor setting.

Just got back from seeing the Producers. It was great. We had hoped to eat at the Pig and Whistle before the show, but traffic was a nightmare and we ran out of time. Maybe next time. Thanks for the suggestions.
