savannah vs charleston?

I will be spending 4 nights in Hilton Head the last week of June w/my wife and brother. We then have two nights and three full days to see either Savannah or Charleston or maybe a night and day plus in each. Is it feasible to do both?-suggestions on lodging in historic districts for three-we are flying in/out of Savannah. thanks

You could do both. Savannah is only a short 45min drive from HHI. Charleston 2 hours. However, to really enjoy Charleston you need more than one day. If I had to choose just one it would be Charleston.

Charleston hands down over Savannah. If you do both you'll really be pushing things. Though it can definitely be done, you won't enjoy the experience as much IMO.
The Charleston/Savannah thing has been discussed many times. Search the archives and you'll find more than you need to know.

I agree with Gary that Charleston is a definite winner over Savannah. Savannah is a great town, and worth seeing, but Charleston is incredible! Lots of great restaurants, scenery, shopping and the people are wonderful.

This "debate" kinda reminds me of another one, SF v. LA. If you have the time, and it seems you do, see both. Isn't this sorta a false choice kinda thing? Ciao.

Thanks for the help! We seem to be leaning on our two nights in Charleston and maybe seeing Savannah on a day trip from Hilton Head. As for this being a "false choice", I don't really understand- it really is a matter of trying to see both with less than 3 days-so we really do have to make some choices-based on the experts. Any further ideas will be appreciated esp. lodging in Charleston w/ a wife and brother along- a little privacy for us both would be nice as Charleston sounds very romantic! thanks all

False choice? Apparently you've avoided it by working it out to see both. Review what folks said, and you'll see it. You made a different decision, to your credit, so be happy, and have a good time seeing both cities. Good day to you, and ciao.
