Savannah trip report

Just returned from our first-ever trip to Savannah. Had a great time! Stayed at the Hampton Inn on Bay St - nice clean room, great location, and the staff was super friendly and helpful. Dinner one night at Garibaldi's and the next night at The Olde Pink House. Not sure which was best - both were outstanding in both food and service. Lunch at Kevin Barry's Pub on the river - another great place. Loved the Irish music.
As first timers, the Red Trolley hop on/hop off tour was good. Also took the one hour river boat cruise which was not very scenic and pretty much a waste of time. Enjoyed the street entertainers along the river. All in all an awesome trip - looking forward to going back.

I love Savannah, too. Did you ride out to Tybee Island? See any freighters in the River? That's quite an experience. Talk about huge!

Don't you just love the layout of the city, with all the squares, the beautiful trees, and all that ironwork. It really IS the South.

How about The Lady and Sons restaurant? If you missed that, be sure to go on your next trip. Then, when you turn on the Food Network, you can say, "I saw HER!"

It was a short trip, so didn't have time for Tybee Island. Saw a couple of the freighters - huge is right!
The city layout was awesome.
Went by Lady and Sons at 10AM on the trolley tour and there was already a huge line! May have to try that next time.

Thanks for your trip report. I've stayed just about everywhere in the Historic District and the Hampton Inn is by far my favorite. Love the location - nice decor - and I agree the staff is always nice and helpful. The lady who is usually at the concierge desk is one of the best I've ever worked with. The Pink House and Garibaldi's are owned and managed by the same folks and they and Bistro Savannah do a great job - ALWAYS! I eat one or the other every trip to Savannah and I've never been disappointed. Entertained a customer tonight and we agreed that it's the Pink House again next Savannah conference. Come back to Savannah soon!

Try the Hyatt. There's a light in the rooms that goes on when there's a ship approaching so you can run to the window and see it!

I don't like the Hyatt.

Glad you enjoyed your trip. Come back in the Spring (April) when the azaleas and dogwoods are in bloom.

And for anyone that's interested, the Hyatt is undergoing extensive renovations. I understand that it is 'waaaayyyy overdue for a good cleanup and painting!
