oops -
Masters Tournament(on TV airing from Augusta) you'll have some idea how gorgeous the Savannah squares abloom in azaleas will be.
One of the best events is the spring home and garden tour. They try to time it for peak azalea weather and it's the third week of March next year -

It's worth going to if you can. If not, I'd go earlier than later - although May will still be nice. I haven't followed the link above but I don't remember a significant difference between April and May re rain in Savannah.

Well, I did follow the link. According to the link the other poster gave, it's rainier in May than April.

Either will be nice. March 22-25 should be as close to perfect as one can predict.

May is a beautiful time to visit Savannah. There is a lower risk of the spring rains spoiling your visit, it is a bit warmer but not too hot, and you should still get to enjoy some of the spring bloom!
I saw the link above, but honestly have found it to be less-rainy myself in my own visits. Honestly, I think you will be fine and love it in either month.
