Sausalito here we come! Now, where to eat?

Mom and I will be taking a trip the last week in September to San Fransisco. We are staying this time over in Sausalito at The Inn Above Tide.
We have 5 nights to enjoy the city, but my question is where to eat casually while over in Sausalito. my mom (55) and I (33) are just fun loving women looking for a great view and good food.

We've always loved The Spinnaker, just off Bridgeway in Sausalito. Here's their website-
http://www.thespinnaker.com/
You can hop the ferry over to San Francisco. Don't have to deal with traffic that way.
Enjoy!

Brunch at Alta Mira:

Sausalito's famous landmark, the Alta Mira, (415) 332-1350, has been a hotel since the 1880s. With 30 cottages, rooms, and suites, it is perched above town on Bulkley Avenue. The restaurant, popular with the brunch crowd, offers panoramic views.

Spinnaker is great, but if the website doesn't look "casual", you can have a small table at the bar, order drinks and snacks, enjoy the view.

We adore the Inn Above Tide, having stayed there many times...good for you! If you like sushi, Sushi Ran is a must-do.

Hamburgers! You can watch them cooking the burgers on a revolving grill in the window. They are SOOOO good! You can get your burger and then sit by the dock and admire the view of San Francisco.

We are also staying at The Inn Above Tide for 1 night in September! Can't wait. We are doing the coast from SD to Napa.

So happy to get ideas for some restaurants in Sausalito. I'll have to go to the websites and check out the menus~

kona514Sorry for late response)

Having lived in Sausalito I can almost guarantee you that the weather during the last week of September will be great. As for restaurants, there aren't that many to recommend although I will second the comments about Sushi Ran (by the way all restaurants in Marin can be considered casual).

On a nice day you may want to try Fish. It is more of a locals restaurant similar to an East coast crab shack with outstanding fresh seafood. It is rather expensive for eating on picinic tables, and they take cash or local checks only, but hey it's a fun place and you're on vacation(www.331fish.com).

On Bridgeway there is a pretty good Italian trattoria called Poggio that is close to your hotel. The walls open up to the street giving it a rather elegant Mediterranean feel (www.poggiotrattoria.com).

There is also a new French restaurant in Sausalito getting a lot a buzz from the foodies called Le Garage. I'm going in a couple of weeks and will report back(www.legaragesausalito.com).

Oh, I just love Inn Above the Tide. The views were incredible. When we stayed there we took the ferry across and ate lunch at the Slanted Door located right in the Ferry Building. The food was wonderful and it was easily our best meal in the area. The short ferry ride was just a bonus for us.

Have a great time.
