Saturday Night Loserville........
It was a gorgeous day on the beach today and I spent it inside dicking around with my new digital camera (happy b-day from sis), my iPod (thank you Geek Squad! Who knew the hard drive can crash in an iPod?), and working on a manicure and pedicure.
I'm playing golf all day tomorrow in tournament and I'm staring at my favorite golf skirt that is wadded up in a ball in the dirty clothes pile. Even bigger loserville is a bottle of ice cold pinot noir looks so delish in the fridge that I'll probably drink it all. Did I mention I'm alone? Isn't that the first sign of being a lush? Drinking alone? Or is it posting on a travel message board about what a loser I am? BTW, does anyone know much about digital cameras? |
"BTW, does anyone know much about digital cameras?"
No. When you learn something let me know. We just bought a new digital camera last weekend. Did yours come with an instruction book as big as the Bible??? Yikes! It's friggin raining here...AGAIN! More of the same tomorrow. Hope to get to the beach on Monday. |
Well, here we are again. I am sitting here waiting for "Dancing with Dogs". Unless Plushy comes in with his plaid Jeff Gordon capris, I may be tonight's winner.
|
"Dancing with Dogs"...Wow, now that's something to get excited about, LOL :D
|
Well I just got finished watching "Failure to Launch" with the DH. All through the movie he kept saying "Can't you see our son doing this?". Yea, just want I want to hear! Geez.
|
I already looked for Failure To Launch on Movies on Demand because I'm too lazy to drive to Blockbuster or join Netflix.
What is 'Dancing With Dogs'? |
Please cmcfong, don't be a hold out.
So that you don't think that I am always in Loserville on a Saturday nite, I'm a bit under the weather. Some sort of flu bug. Otherwise, I'd be out painting the town red, and having a grand ole.... Well, I don't want to brag or anything, LOL. House Hunters, anyone? :D |
"Dancing with Dogs' is a new sport for dogs and owners. Apparently Animal Planet has a whole show devoted to it at 8:00 tonight. I have taught one of my dogs to do the Hokey Pokey (she is a therapy dog and the kids and elderly folks we visit love to see this) but we need to move on. I am thinking salsa with some of GoT's ipod tunes.....
|
I was transfixed on the show "What Not To Wear". It's sad and comical at the same time. Remember stirrup pants?
|
I LOVE CLINTON AND STACY! I am a loser.....
|
I'll join y'all in Loserville tonight. DH is working until 11 p.m. (although we might go out then) and I'm technically working from home...at least until my crude oil ship starts loading in the next hour or so. I'll be sending her up to you East Coasters for refining tomorrow. :)
So, I sit here with my laptop, in front of the TV, contemplating a poison on the patio soon, but have none here at home. Guess I might have to make a poison run or else join GoTravel with her bottle of Pinot Noir. ;) |
Hi, ladies! Just checking in between our usual Saturday afternoon trip to Borders and, I hope, eventually going out for dinner. My husband always listens to Prarie Home Companion. And, unfortunately, it's now followed by some local music critics show that he likes as well. So I'm not going anywhere for a while! Except possibly to the grocery store for a couple of things I realized we need. Now, can you really get much more "loserly" than the grocery store on Saturday night?!
|
Statia, I'm sorry, you can't technically be a "loser" if you can actually go out with your husband at 11pm! ;) D So you'll have to settle and be a pseudo-loser, LOL.
cmcfong, did you see Kelly's makeover today?? Wasn't that amazing? |
My daughter loves What Not to Wear! We give her a hard time about her addiction to TLC. But, I have to confess, I've gotten rather fond of that show myself!
|
I saw Kelly's makeover last night. Sadly I am a doubleheader loser this weekend.
|
Hi CAPH. I feel that since I've watched a few episodes of "A Baby's Story" I can competently deliver a baby at any time. :D
|
Hope you won't be offended by my saying thanks for the laugh, STW!
|
But, seetheworld, I wanna be a real loser! :( How 'bout if I stay home tonight. Will I qualify then? :)
|
Well I'll join the club too. It was an absolutely gorgeous day in central Indiana. Low humidity and 80 for a high, just about perfect.
I mowed. I pulled up oak saplings from the gazillion acorns that fell last fall. I stained a baby gate to put across my porch entrance to keep the "nephew" dog in when my brother visits. It's finally cocktail hour so I shook myself up a good ole VO Manhattan. I'm drinking alone. Though there are the voices in my head and my internet buddies... :-) I live in the boondocks. I infinitely prefer drinking alone to driving 35 minutes to the closest bar, drinking, then driving back. Just say no to drinking and driving. I don't know much about digital cameras yet GoT. Found out enough it's going to cost me a new computer to go digital. I need USB 2.0 and a DVD burner. Might as well buy new rather than pay the money to upgrade. "Technology is Evil." Words to live by. :-D |
Well, Statia, let me think....
.... .... Do you believe that I could competently deliver a baby? EhHem, apparently that makes some people laugh on these boards. Wink Wink :D :D I hope so. I would hate to think that all of those hours of TLC watching would be a waste because then I would be classified a LOSER! Gosh, I need to rest now. |
Well dear GoTravel, it is only late Saturday afternoon here but I am feeling like a looser.
I had a list of mental "to to list" in my head. First I slept in late. Then I spent most of the morning on the telephones thanks to phone calls I received (all fun though). Then took a shower and before I was hardly dressed a friend with a newely adopted baby girl came by (precious little girl). Then I what..goofed off..and in between all this I have been on Fodor's. So it is almost 4:00pm and I have accomplished absolutely nothing! And now it is soooo hot outside that I just want to spend the rest of the time inside with the a/c but I don't want to start any of the "to do" items I should really and truly do, lol. Yes, I am certainly feeling like a Saturday Loser, lol! But thanks for your thread..I guess it is true..misery loves company. Well actually I am not feeling miserable..just guilty regarding the fact that I have not accomplished much of anything. Big hugs!! |
Gotravel~ I have no camers advice. My husband operates the digital. I did, however, take some neat pictures of a caribou herd, with young ones. All told, maybe 20 of them.
We had a picnic outing on a local beach today. The other people there were assembled at the Mr. Potato Head factory, since they were mismatched. I jumped in the middle of their party and pointed out my deficits, just to make friends. Anyway, nice top see the SNL group starting early. We have daylight til midnight up here, so I'll be out and about until they threaten me with curfew again. cheers, J. |
The only bad thing about going out at 11PM (I do that also Statia,!) is that you get in late and get up late.
I'm trying to make healthier ice tea. Adding green tea and ecchinacea (sp) tea but it tastes like lawn in a glass. |
GoT, the opposite happens to me. If I'm up late, there's no sleeping late. My body clock is too darn wired -- always awake at 5 am-ish. :(
|
I'm watching infomercials. Then I'm looking them up on the internet to see which ones are worth it and which ones are bull crap.
My husband is working and my son is on a school trip to NYC. (At least he gets to go on vacation, unlike his parents..hmph!) My SIL just called to say her boyfriend is too tired to go out, so she "guesses" she'll go out and get something to eat with me. I did spend a few hours in her pool this afternoon, though. When I come home I'm going to wash my kitchen floor. I'll probably drink wine while I do it. And to top it off, I'm telling all this to people on the internet. :-( |
I'll join - though it's only about 4:00 here. It's about 1000 degrees outside today. So since I hate being sweaty I've chosen to go grocery shopping, whoo hoo, and doing laundry. Got a new heating and air system about 2 years ago and it works great so I'm cool inside. Meanwhile my kids are with friends - DS is with someone who has a boat! Think I'll read my book club book for the next meeting which I just found out I will not be able to attend - more of a loser....
|
STW, in a story loosely related to your insistance that you could deliver a baby...
A few weeks ago my daughter went on an interview at a clothing store in the mall. This was a group interview and they all had to role play trying to sell a particular piece of clothing. Well, DD felt she did particularly well on that part of the interview because she used points she'd learned from WNTW to talk up the skirt! She was, in fact, offered a job! (But decided not to take it as it paid less than the job she already had.) Guess it's not called The Learning Channel for nothing! LOL (sure wish I could get the hang of those darn emoticons!) |
Caph...
LOL! Good for her! :) Hint on the emoticons...if you place your curser over the emoticon, say in someone's post, you can see what you need to type to create it. Or, you can copy and paste directly from the main list. And Caph, since you have questioned my abilities, you may kindly refer to me as Dr. STW, please. ;) Did I mention that I have a burning fever? SICK LOSER... Infomercials, huh?? Sorry BuffaloGirl, that's gotta hurt :) |
Speaking of boats, when I went to pick up my car from last night (I never drink and drive), neighbor is selling his boat and I'm thinking about buying it and surprising Mr. GoTravel.
We sold ours and have been boatless for a while. This one is a 20ft center console that would be good for fishing about five miles offshore. It is an offshore boat so 20ft is bigger than a 20ft ski boat. It has a 175hp Merc. |
That's so nice GoT! I'm thinking of getting Mr. STW a row boat for the reservoir when he retires (which may be sooner than I think).
|
Game over.
BuffaloGirl wins hands down. Watching infomercials? LOL! I like the fact that you are looking them up online afterwards! :-D |
I agree.
GoT, you've got to have prizes or at the very least, a LOSER certificate. BuffaloGirl, where can we forward your prize, lol. :D |
LoveItaly, I'm ashamed to say that your description of your day, or at least the lack of accomplishment part, pretty much describes my life since school ended. Maybe this coming week I'll start to get my act together?!
|
What is a good loser gift?
What about a bag of Lays Dill Pickle Potato Chips? |
Ahhh, something weird is happening. This is a test...is my post posting??
|
LOL. Caph, that first week after school lets out is always interesting. I'll pretty much do what you did last week this week. Jammies until noon - ahhhh sounds so wonderful! :D
|
Yeah CAPH, but now I am thinking, pour a glass of wine and wash the kitchen floor, thanks to BuffaloGirl's comment, lol. That was on my "to do list"!
GoTravel a bag of any kind of potato chips works IMO ;;) .. but I would have to go to the store to buy some, and it is soooo hot outside. Gads, you all make me feel better about "what I have not gotten done" LOL. Big hugs! |
Good idea GoT. Might not ship well, but what's a loser to expect??
|
I think the Dill Pickle Potato Chips are an excellent idea! But now you've got me craving them! Maybe I'd better not take that aforementioned trip to the grocery store just now!
|
My, my, a bunch of early losers tonight. It's only 6:30 here in Texas.
I can't believe I actually watched both soccer games today. I was making chocolate chip cookies for a luncheon tomorrow. By the time the games were over, there were only a few left. That's a Loser with a capital L for sure. Loser hips is what I'll have if I keep it up!! |
