Santa Monica Restaurant Recommendation?

Hi All,

Know of a great restaurant in the Third St Promenade area you want to recommend? Love seafood but we're open to anything.

Thanks!

We love The Lobster--it's located right on the ocean (by the Pier) a couple blocks from the Third Street Promenade.

an Italian-seafood restaurant--very nice, just a short walk (a block or two) from Promenade

i. Cugini
1501 Ocean Ave
Santa Monica, CA 90401

PS--maybe just our bad choices, but we have never had a *really* good meal right on the Promenade

Indeed, there are no truly outstanding restaurants right on the Promenade. Neither Abode or Musha or i. Cugini or the Lobster is on the Promenade itself.

On the Promenade, the best place will probably be Bravo Cucina. On food alone. The room is pretty ordinary, albeit pleasant.

Ocean Ave. Seafood is outstanding, and it's a block from the Promenade, as is the Lobster and i. Cugini. A couple of blocks away is a place called JiRaffe-- always top-rated in the LA guides. Capo is a bit of a walk down Ocean, but it serves great high-end Italian, and it's popular among the Big Names of the movie and TV industry. Of course, even better is Mélisse, about 9 blocks up Wilshire.

We enjoyed The Lobster for lunch. Also, Ivy at the Shore was nice.
Drinks at Casa Del Mar are nice as well.

Restaurants at Casa del Mar are usually recommended. I also would not recommend eating on the promenade itself if you want the best food.

Btw, you should check out www.chowhound.com. Great food experts there.

Hi All, we had lunch at Lobster and had really nice seats right by the window. We each had the lobster clam chowder and I had the shrimp ravioli which was delish! and my hubby had the tuna sandwhich. Fantastic place and there was a "star" (can't remember his name) sitting close to us. Also on the way, saw "the rock" having lunch at the hotel like restaurant(next to) ocean seafood on ocean st (it didn't have a name we could see).

Later that evening, we were in the mood for asian fusion noodles so we went to a place called Buddha's Belly. It was really good.

Anyway, thanks for all the recommendations!
