Santa fe hotel decision

Need help Fodorites! Family of 4 (daughters 8 & 10) heading to Santa Fe 8/20-8/25. Am seriously contemplating 1 bedroom casita @ Las Palomas de Santa Fe. Anyone stayed here recently? I have seen mixed reviews on tripadvisor and yahoo. We would prefer the extra room instead of being in a regular hotel room.
First trip for daughters to Santa Fe, have lots planned to do in and around SF/Taos so would consider staying outside of Plaza area if someone had experience elsewhere. Trying to be in $200-250/night range, not more.

For some previous answers to this question...type in "Santa Fe lodging" in the SEARCH this forum space at the top of the page. Also, if you use the drop down menu to the right of the SEARCH feature and click on New Mexico, you will find some helpful posts.

And lastly, click on the DESTINATIONS link at the top of the page and then click on Santa Fe for Fodors reviews and suggestions on hotels. Also, they have great ideas for walking tours based on length of stay.

I sure am experienced enough on this site to look around before posting a question, but thanks for the suggestion! Having already done DebitNM's suggestions, you will see that no one has posted any comments on La Palomas de Santa Fe recently.

So now that you guys out west are awake, I hope you don't mind me TTT'ing this post and asking again if anyone has been to this hotel recently!!

That's all I am looking for!

Sorry Edye, didn't mean to imply that you didn't know how to use site, BUT there are so many that come on and ask questions that are either vague or have been asked [and answered] many times before. I usually suggest the SEARCH thingy to get them started.

I am sorry that I can't offer info on Las Palomas in SF. Living so close...nevered stayed overnight.

Have your tried Tripadvisor.com for reviews or doing a GOOGLE search using the name of hotel?

Hope this helps...

OK, I know I am not your mother...and I have way too much time on my hands...

I did a search on Google and found 7 reviews on tripadvisor.com Six were really good and 1 was horrible.

Also found reviews on yahoo travel

http://travel.yahoo.com/p-hotel-3840..._de_santa_fe-i

Also something called "36 hours in Sante Fe" from the Travel section in the NY Times.

Sounds pretty good to me

There seems to be 2 different places with similar names:
Las Palomas de Santa Fe [which seems to have very positive reviews all around] located at 460 W. San Francisco St.
Santa Fe, NM 87501

The other place is called simply Las Palomas
and is located at 119 Park Avenue
Santa Fe, NM 87501
. This one seems to have more mixed reviews.

Again, hope this helps.

Thanks Debi, you found all the same stuff I has already found. Some of tose reviews are failry old (2004).

We spoke to the hotel today, and it is at the corner of Park and San Francisco. I am nervous because of the variations on the hotel's quality between the 2 different listings. Apparently there are 2 different style buildings, one being a territorial building. I admit to being unfamiliar with this type of architecture. Anyway all of this ambiguous info is why I was hoping to hear from an actual guest!!

I sincerely appreciate your attempts to help us learn more about this property. I have always found "Fodorites" to be the most kind and helpful folks, and this is my favorite internet site.

I will ceratinly post about this property if we stay there. Thanks again!

Don't know anything about Las Palomas. Have you looked at Ft. Marcy Compound? They have reasonably priced condos, not too far from Plaza.
