Sanibel or Captiva accommodations

We are going to Sanibel and/or Captiva island the first or second week of December. Any recommendations out there?

Frank, we stayed at the Sanibel Inn in a 2 bedroom condo and loved it. I think you might get more accurate responses if you tell a little more details. What kind of accommodations are you looking for ( on the beach, condo, hotel room, luxury, or basic) and who is traveling (adults only, with kids, etc.) Sanibel is a special place. Have a wonderful time!

We stayed at the Castaways at Blind Pass for Easter 1999. We had 4-6 adults and 3 small children. Not luxurious by any means, however, very clean and right on the beach! You walked out of your back door onto sand. It was like having your own private cottage. These can be viewed on the web. On the downside the pool is in desperate need of renovation and it was necessary to cross the street to get to it. It was a great place for the kids but if it was just the two of us, I would opt for a more upscale facility. At Easter time, Captiva was ultra crowded. Have a great time...Sanibel is like a Carribean island!

I can highly recommend "Tween Waters" on Captiva. They have little cabins or hotel rooms.

View two very different Captiva private home rentals. The Mermaid Home, a 2br/2ba pool home in the village of Captiva www.vacationspot.com/mermaidhome.htm
and a beach condo at South Seas Resort www.vacationspot.com/2112southseasplantation.htm
At $995 per week in December either choice, if available, would be terriffic.

Check out a lovely European-style motel on the beach called Song of the Sea...
Bikes come with your stay, as I recall,
and the biking and beaching there is un-
surpassed. We prefer Sanibel over Captiva for these reasons, although you
will want to drive over to Captiva as well to see the marina and gorgeous golf
attractions. The Sanibel Inn is right next door to Song of the Sea. Both are owned by the same company and are excellent properties. YOU SIMPLY CANNOT GO WRONG ON SANIBEL ISLAND NO MATTER WHERE YOU STAY...
