Sanibel Island Weather

We will be visiting Sanibel in May and again August. I am wondering if the weather is hot and humid during this time. Thank you.

May will be warm and beautiful. August will be like your worst nightmare with tons of humidity, a daily fast moving rain shower that doesn't cool things off, only makes things stickier.

In a word, YES! Usually (not always) more so in August than May. You're more likely to have afternoon showers in August than May, but don't think they cool it down, they just seem to make it steamier. Dress cool for the beach (and avoid the mid day sun. At other times you will live in airconditioning -- bring a sweater. There is a South Florida law that says if it is hot outside, restaurants must be freezing!

Last year I went in April and temperature hit mid-90's every day. And that's the COOL part of your trip compared to August.

And because of the Ding Darling Wildlife Reserve, Sanibel does not spray for mosquitos. Enjoy!

Hi Paul,
We vacationed at Sanibel in late May last year. It was so hot and steamy, on the day we left, my husband had to take a second shower just after loading the van at 9:00 a.m. But the sunsets are worth it!

May is a gorgeous month to visit, the earlier in the month the better. Once our humidity sets in, life is pretty steamy until mid October.
